The original at the Hotel Cappuccino in Palma, Mallorca is wonderful! One may therefore expect this branch in the Capital, Madrid to be on par. Sadly not. What is an exquisite 5 star service on the island is diminished to a poor imitation. Where you feel welcomed and appreciated in Palma, here you're left largely ignored and the impression your presence is an annoyance is not subtly hidden.
Yes it's busy but it also charges sky high prices so the staffing and service needs to be there; it's certainly being paid for! My recent visit was a catalogue of errors, blunders and amateurish performances, too many to list. It looked like one of the staff was dressed as a manager but spent most of the time looking confused and fumbling around, ultimately not 'managing' anything.
The food was ok, nothing more though, the cappuccino was good (after the 20min wait for the 2nd one which, to Daniel's credit, he removed from the bill as the order had clearly been forgotten by whoever took the supplementary order), but then you'd expect the very item after which the company is named to be excellent! The OJ at 8euros a glass is daylight thievery; we're in Spain; we produce 3.5 million tons of oranges a year and (within the EU) are the 4th largest producer in the world! 5 euros for a small cappuccino is already pricey (6 in Mallorca) but what the sweetness of the OJ cannot offset is the feeling that this place is only interested in turning tables and stuffing the cash machines full of your euros without any thought to maintaining the service that made the brand popular in the first place.
If you are ok with premium pricing; average products and lousy service, try and get a table here! (I did email to reserve but 3 weeks later I'm yet to receive a reply to my email; now I know what their customer service is like...
Read moreBeautiful location. We wanted to love it, but . . . we ordered avocado toast and eggs benedict with jamon. They brought us eggs benedict with salmon. After we told the server about the mistake, it took over 15 minutes to get a replacement. The replacement would have been great had it been hot or even remotely warm, but it was cold. On the avocado toast, the toast was soggy and mushy. Someone had clearly slopped the poached egg onto the toast with a spoonful of poaching water. Cafes con leche were bitter. In terms of atmosphere, we arrived when they opened at 9:00 a.m. As we ate, a woman walked around our table sweeping. When we went to the restroom, the floors were literally sopping wet like a toilet had overflowed but instead it was a woman mopping. Trashcans on the counter and cleaning stuff everywhere. I don't understand why this type of maintenance was not done before customers arrive. Lots of lovely places to have breakfast in Madrid. This is not...
Read morePlease!!!! BE AWARE OF THIS PLACE!!!! I usually check every place I eat but this time I didn't and I regret so much because my bill was like 150 euros. I came for vacation with my family, the place looked nice but the staff was terrible, very bad service, except for one person, Jose. I think because they're not used to getting tips, the waitress doesn't care that much about the service, I asked them to heat up the ham and they denied, when I asked them to bring me more milk, they took so long. When I requested my bill, I asked Laura 3 times but she ignored me, haha I felt it was a joke but not, my family saw it that too. I couldn't believe it but when she came with the bill she was smiling like nothing, the only person that cared about our table was Jose, very kind and helpful. I'm pretty sure there's more places to eat better and cheaper. Definitely not recommended and not...
