Unfortunately a bad experience here folks. For info we all speak Spanish and Two adults were from Spain. So 3 adults one teen looking for place to eat at 5 ish. Walked in here and told by a frosty server that reservations can only be accepted. We were not told if there was any other available options so we proceeded to leave. On our stroll up the street I decided to see if any booking was available on the website and surely enough there was available table at 6pm. We liked the reviews and wanted to eat pasta so decided to book the table for 4. So we visited a few shops to kill some time and went in at 6. Meet again by said frosty lady who proceeded to show us to a table. The menus were on the app so we scanned and proceeded to look over the nice looking menu. My daughter wanted two dishes. One being the carbonara and the second the Della Mare. As she couldnāt decide, I said I would go with the della mare so she could try both. Boy o boy was I in for a shock. The others ordered ORo rojo (too acidic, flavour was not enjoyable) and teen ordered plain pasta with bacon. Miss frosty proceeded to come back and take our order. Now the mare dish should have been explained as Iām sure this dish is not for everyone and when I mean Everyone I mean the total population of Europe. When squid is on the menu and it comes in the form of a black lagoon gel with some shreds of pasta then I think itās on the waitress to tell the customer that the dish may not be to your liking. Miss Frosty had no interest in engaging. we wanted drinks. Ie wine or something else. My other half said water and I was still contemplating about getting a beer. The waitress flew away faster than a mockingbird. We all looked at each other and bemused by the chance of the restaurant getting more income. Anyway the foods arrived with a cover on top of metal dishes. Nice presentation but damn when I saw the deep space nice squid dish I thought I could be in for a wild time or this was the worse decision of my culinary life. As we were all starting we asked a separate male waiter for salt and pepper. The latter was not available. He returned to the table and dropped the salt shaker on the table like a drive by shooting it was that quick. I picked up my fork and proceeded to try my dish with an open mind. Ok at first but ink from the marina trench was too overwhelming and not at all appealing. The next day letās just say it also came out black. First for everything I guess. The teen dish was the best as he finished the plain bacon and pasta so he was content. The other dishes were not so Devine. The carbonara tasted more like a mature red cheese that was melted in a microwave. The other oro rojo was drowned in lemon and killed off any flavour. We wanted to enjoy this restaurant but really let down here. We asked for the bill and proceeded to get out the door. There was one other tall waitress then who was pleasant and wished us a good night and was helpful when taking payment. The other staff need to learn...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI booked this restaurant because of the high Google ratings, but I think those reviews mostly reflect smaller groups. We came as a group of 8 girls, and when I called to reserve, I was told to book through Google ā no mention that large groups werenāt allowed. When we arrived, we found out that tables canāt be joined and that only up to 4 people can sit together.
There was a table behind us that was reserved for what seemed like a larger group (around 7ā8 people). The staff told us it was booked for 8 p.m., but no one ever showed up ā and we were there for about 2ā3 hours. We asked a few times if we could move there, but they said no, which felt quite frustrating.
At first, the staff was really kind and tried to make the best of the situation, but toward the end, things shifted. One of my friends didnāt like her food and barely ate it; the waiter offered to either make a new one or remove it from the bill. She chose to have it removed, but when the bill came, it wasnāt. Then another staff member came back and, in a surprisingly rude tone, put the bill down and said, āIs this enough discount for you?ā ā which really shocked us.
We were an international group ā some of us spoke Spanish, others only English ā so maybe there was some miscommunication, but overall the experience just wasnāt great. My pasta arrived almost cold, the cheese had stuck together, and for ā¬21, it didnāt feel worth it (I ate it only because I was very hungry).
I do believe the staff are good people, but communication and handling of group reservations definitely need improvement. For smaller groups or couples, it might be a nice spot only for the experiencee āābuild the pastaā , but for larger groups, I wouldnāt...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA phenomenal little 'blink and you miss it' restaurant on the streets of Madrid, MyPastaRoom surpassed any expectations I had. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming us in both Spanish and English to ensure we understood we were wanted, and the drinks were extremely well made. The strawberry margarita is the best version of the drink I've ever had. But the main star of the show was the pasta.
I got the Pesto Santo con Pollo, and was absolutely blown away on delivery of the dish to the table. The noodles were the most verdant green, and the smell was simply intoxicating. To my utter disbelief, I ate the entire dish in five minutes. I didn't even realize I was that hungry until the first bite hit my lips. Then I became ravenous. These chefs know their craft well. The pasta was cooked to perfection, the chicken was gloriously grilled, and the sauce? My goodness, I couldn't have asked for better.
My Pasta Room will absolutely become a regular stop for me when I'm in Madrid, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. From the chefs, to the wait staff, to the owner, I say well done. I am impressed, I am happy, and I am well fed because of their hard work and dedication. Muy bien, y...
