My fiancée and I stopped by last night to grab dinner to take home. The hostess instructed us to scan the QR code to view the menu in English. For context, I speak Spanish but my fiancée does not. My fiancée wanted the lasagna but there seemed to be a multitude of allergens displayed, the one that mattered most was “Nuts”/“Frutos secos”. I asked the hostess to confirm if the allergens were correct since they were under every pasta dish. The hostess said that there were no nuts in the pasta and that it was safe to order. We perused the menu a bit longer and noted that the allergens noted seemed to be specific for different categories. For example in the white pizza section the allergens were just as extensive as the pastas and in the red pizza section there were more options with few allergens. We called the hostess over again and I informed her of our hesitancy in getting the lasagna because I pointed out once more that it states nuts as an allergen. She insisted that that was wrong and that there are no traces of nuts at all and that my fiancée would be fine in ordering that dish. Feeling confident in the information she communicated with us, I ordered a lasagna for my fiancée and a margarita pizza for myself. She let the chefs know that my fiancée has a nut allergy so to be careful in prepping our dishes. Once the food was done and packed we paid and made our way home. Once we got home my fiancée took 3 bites of her lasagna and immediately felt her tongue swelling and tingling and her throat starting to close. Thankfully we travel with an Epi pen and Benadryl aka Difenhidramina. We had other plans for the rest of the night but unfortunately our plans changed because my fiancée had to take Benadryl pills to manage her symptoms. Thankfully all she had was 3 bites because had she had more of the pasta we would have had to head to the hospital. We have eaten at several Italian restaurants throughout our travels in Spain and this is the 1st time we’ve had such an experience and encountered a lack of care and caution when it comes to allergens in an...
