My friend and I were excited to go here, as she had walked past a couple of times and it looked nice. Beautiful ambience, reasonably priced menu del dia, nice looking food. And it would have received a better rating from me, if not for the bizarre ordeal our waitress put us through.
We ordered our starters, and we were only halfway through - not even close to finished - when she tried to take them away from us. It was clear to me that she had told the kitchen we were ready for our main dishes, and they were ready, and the kitchen had told her to take them out. She arrived at our table to find we were only halfway through our starters, and so tried to hurry us into finishing. I said very clearly (in Spanish), that we were not finished. Not even two minutes later, she returned and tried to take our plates. Again, I said we were not finished. She put our main dishes behind the bar - I assume the kitchen said she couldn't return them there. Again, not even two minutes later, she physically tried to remove our starters - which were not at all finished, and we were OBVIOUSLY still eating them - at which point I said "we are still eating!!!" (in Spanish) and had to hold my plate to prevent her from taking it. She actually huffed at us and stomped off. When we were finished she sarcastically asked if we were finally done, and then delivered our now cold main dishes from behind the bar. She then gave us weird looks for the rest of our time there, making us very uncomfortable. My friend chose to have no dessert so we could leave earlier, and I didn't finish mine for the same reason.
The most bizarre part of all of this was, there were several empty tables, it was obvious our table was not immediately needed, and we had only been there one hour. Spain is notorious for long lunches, so I cannot understand why we were being pressured into finishing our meals, other than the waitress had screwed up, and told the kitchen we were ready, when we were not, which then put pressure on her to deliver our mains. But none of this was our fault, and it completely ruined...
Read moreThe place is awesome, really lovely for a couple. It’s chic and not so pricey. We started with a dish of queso de cabra, which was amazing (the best actually). Super interesting the jam of pimientos! After I took a burger with roquefort and my partner the pulpitos. He was really happy with his food! My burger wasn’t that good, I didn’t eat the bread because it felt cook in oil. Super super strong taste of oil, not eatable and also really cook (too much). My meat wasn’t cook as I asked but this was fine. 😅 For the dessert, we love chocolate so we took the trufas de chocolate con crema inglesa which we didn’t finish, actually we just ate 3 of them. The presentation was beautiful but we didn’t expect this strong taste of mint. Stronger than the rest, then you don’t even feel the crema inglesa and the chocolate. 😕 A bit disappointing but we will probably give...
Read moreDon’t eat here if you’re visiting Madrid. We ordered the ‘menu’ and the food was pretty bad. To begin with, the wine came in a filthy container, literally floaters inside. And the white house wine was just bad, like watery or something. The carpaccio salad had decent flavour but the vegetables had been cut hours ago and were dry and almost shrivelling. The eggplant also had good flavour but it wasn’t fresh and the ‘melted’ cheese on top was dry. The ribs had good flavour but had also been reheated. And the chicken and rice were just drab — you could make it yourself at home. For dessert I just went for the melon as I didn’t want to take any risks. The place is nice and so are the waiters but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, even at that...
