Taberna Averías — Restaurant in Madrid

This place has one of the best selections of wine in Chamberí. Some of the waiters know a ton and can help you navigate the choices, but others are clueless...one waiter once told me he couldn't recommend anything because he doesn't like wine!

I'm lowering the review after going a few more times because they are always trying to upsell you. On the last visit I told the waiter what I was looking for and he brought back a different type of wine and the glass cost 14€. The scammy service makes it so I won't be returning - it feels like they are only interested in making money and not in developing loyal customers.

Came here with a friend on a sunday night, after finding the line to Sala de Despiece to be unreasonably long for our level of hunger. 100% quality of unique wine selection, kindness and enthusiasm. The vibe was perfect, unpretentious and friendly. Master somm Rodrigo was attentive and extremely efficient in the knowledge of each wine presented, he shared information about each estate, the grape varietals and production methods.
