This hotel was very nice, and I am really sad to be giving this hotel 4 instead of 5 stars, but it had to be done. Before I tell you why, let me tell you the good things about this hotel. First off, the breakfast. Absolutely incredible! With many varieties of fresh things including orange juice and jelly to the wide selection of meats and pastries, this breakfast had everything you need. If you are a coffee person, there are about 5 different machines with a few options so you don’t need to wait in any line! 🤣 (they also have hot chocolate in the machines) The staff were also really nice, friendly and very helpful. They even put out a really nice candy and flavoured water display which added a really nice sweet touch to my experience. The rooms are also nice, but if you have a family with 3 people or more, you probably would have to get a suite as you get provided with two twin beds. But both the beds and the pillows are super comfy, the rooms are also pretty big, and the bathrooms are actually really nice as well. Having a suite is also pretty cool as there are two doors separating the rooms so you can close them for privacy, or you can leave them open to make a really big room! My only complaint for the whole entire hotel is that there is no pool. I was very dissatisfied upon hearing this, as the few days that I was in Madrid were going to be really hot, and there is nothing like jumping into a nice pool after a hot day. So yeah. That was disappointing, especially given how much you pay for the hotel. In sum: great hotel, great breakfast, very well located near a train station and some really nice restaurants, including a tasty pie place called Empanadas Tita de Buenos Aires.

I recently stayed at the NH Hotel in the Chamberí neighborhood of Madrid, and overall, it was a good experience. The location is excellent, right next to the Gregorio Marañón metro station and La Castellana, making it very convenient for getting around. The hotel is split into two buildings, which isn’t a major inconvenience, but it does mean crossing from one building to another for things like breakfast or using the gym. My room was in good condition, with sufficient amenities, though the bathroom ceiling was unusually low. This could be an issue for taller guests who want to shower comfortably. The gel holders in the bathroom were glued to the wall and kept falling - perhaps this setup could be reconsidered. The highlight of my stay was the service: they were exceptionally attentive and resourceful, making me feel very well cared for. Breakfast was another highlight—very complete, with plenty of options, served in a warm and spacious area. While I don’t have any major complaints, I would recommend considering the NH José Abascal, located just five minutes away, which I’ve found to be an even better option overall.

This hotel has a couple of buildings, but you can check-in at either receptions and they will let you know if l you need to go to the other building. The check-in process was smooth, but every day I had to stop by the reception because my card would deactivate during the day. My room had a foul smell in the bedroom by the closet / bathroom, which I reported 3 times. The first time, they sprayed the room and I thought it was okay, but the smell came back within an hour. No one came after reporting it a second time, but someone came after reporting it a 3rd time, but nothing was done. In the end, I realized that the foul smell was coming from the bathroom, so I kept the door shut, but it was terrible going in there!! I hope they’ll address the issue for the next guest. Another point - make sure to bring adapters / USB cables to charge your electronics because despite recent renovations, the room doesn’t have USB charging ports. Otherwise, it was nice to have a Nespresso machine and tea in the room. It is conveniently located near restaurants, a nice bakery and grocery stores.

The only aspect of this hotel that received positive feedback is the spaciousness of the room.

However, I was disappointed by the following issues:

Disposal of personal item: Despite being granted a late check-out until 4pm, when I returned to the hotel around 2-3pm to pack my belongings, I found the housekeeping staff already cleaning the room. I informed them that the room had not been checked out yet, and they left. However, during my final packing, I discovered that my contact lens box was missing. I notified the reception at check-out, and although their staff tried to help me locate it, but was unsuccessful. It was surprising and unacceptable to me that the housekeeping staff disposed of items belonging to guests, especially since my luggage and other personal items were still in the room, indicating that the room had not been checked out.

Bottled water: I was supposed to receive complimentary bottled water each night of my stay. However, when I arrived, no water was provided. I called the reception and requested it, and they delivered it to my room, promising to provide it for the following nights. The next day, upon returning to the hotel, I found that the room had been tidied up but no water was provided. I contacted the reception again, and the manager personally delivered the water to my room, assuring me that he would inform the housekeeping staff to provide it the next day. Unfortunately, the same issue occurred again the following evening. This repeated inconsistency was highly disappointing.

Delivery at the hotel reception: I had purchased items that were supposed to be delivered to the hotel. Before the delivery was made, I inquired at the reception if they could accept deliveries, and the staff confirmed that they could and assured me that the items would be kept with other baggage at the reception. However, when I returned to the hotel one evening to collect the delivered items from the reception counter, the staff informed me that there were no deliveries or baggage for me. They contacted their colleagues, but it seemed that no one was aware of any delivery. Eventually, it was discovered that some staff members had sent the goods directly to my room, causing confusion and...

We had a pleasant stay at this hotel for a weekend. The room felt very modern with several amenities, the room was also quite spacious and we had a king-size bed. The staff were also very friendly. We didn’t try the breakfast here but there are also several cafes/brunch spots nearby - the breakfast/lunch/dinner service is through an upmarket chain which is inside the hotel lobby so definitely worth checking out, you can also get this restaurant as room service.

However, not the individual hotel’s fault but the website could really do with upgrading (does not match the standard of the hotel). The website was awfully slow to load anything and the problem is you are asked to check in online in advance through the website. This involves figuring out which room to choose (different options for twin/double, view/no view and across two different buildings, with no filter options to quickly filter out the rooms you don’t want). Would be much easier to check in at the hotel and for them to give you their “best” available room - the staff know the hotel, I don’t! With the website being slow to load each time you click a new room to preview, this was quite a tedious process. However, this didn’t detract from the stay at the hotel which was very pleasant (though as would be expected for the room rate even with the very central location - there is a metro station a 2...
