I stopped by Zuppa for a light lunch and was pleasantly surprised by both the atmosphere and the quality of the food. The place has a very clean, minimalist interior with a calming palette of neutral tones, soft lighting, and simple wooden furniture. It feels modern yet cozy, perfect for a casual solo meal or a quiet catch-up with a friend.
To start, I had the melon soup, and it was absolutely refreshing. Light, slightly sweet, and fresh, it’s the kind of dish that’s perfect for a hot day. It had a silky texture and was topped with a drizzle of oil and some crunchy croutons, adding just the right balance of creaminess and texture.
I also tried the rúcula (arugula) salad, which came with cherry tomatoes and Parmesan shavings. It was clean and healthy-tasting, but overall a bit plain. A touch more seasoning or an added ingredient for contrast could have elevated it. Still, it’s a nice option if you’re looking for something very light and straightforward.
The highlight for me, though, was the ox cheek sandwich. The meat was rich and flavorful, slow-cooked and tender, packed into a soft bun with just enough sauce to keep it juicy without being messy. That said, it was quite small. More of a snack than a full meal, so I’d definitely recommend ordering it alongside something else unless you’re after something really light.
Portions overall lean toward the modest side, so it’s a good idea to mix and match dishes if you arrive hungry. Pricing is fair, especially given the quality and freshness of the ingredients. I’d definitely come back, maybe to try one of their stews or the couscous...
Read moreI arrived in Madrid earlier today and as I haven’t been feeling so great I decided to research on the way here somewhere that did salads and lighter food. I popped into Zuppa and the staff were very friendly- even offering me a taster of the soup (which was delicious- I tried one of the gazpacho’s). But decided to give the moje murciano a go. They listed it as a salad but I would say it’s more of a cold soup. I was told it would be like this before given it and I could also see from the picture.
OH MY GOODNESS. It tasted amazing. If I had longer in Madrid I would definitely come back for more. So good!
I will just add that my Spanish is terrible (I apologise) and the lady helping me with my choices was very good with her...
