Visited Dennehy's last night after it being recommended to me by my Mum (she came a year or two ago).
It's nestled by the marina next to a little square with a little bandstand that is all lit up with fairy lights - very pretty. So, location wise, it's lovely.
Hubby and I weren't too fussed for starters last night but in a rare moment, our 7 year old decided she wanted one so we ended up just ordering some warm bread with alioli so she wasn't eating by herself - a bargain at €2.50 and plenty for two although we did order one each.
For mains, I opted for the fillet steak with chips, salad and pepper sauce. I ordered it medium rare and it was cooked medium but it was a lovely cut of meat with not a bit of fat on it, so it was delicious regardless. Hubby went for the fishcakes which he liked. That came with some homemade scampi which was delicious.
For dessert, our eldest opted for a scoop of ice cream whilst both hubby and I went for the Bailey's cheesecake. Oh. My. Days. Just to die for! I highly recommend it. It's quite a large portion so you may want to share if you don't have a large appetite.
As for service, I have no complaints. We had our one year old with us and they made a fuss of her and our oldest daughter - joking with her and giving her the Spanish menu to read :)
All in all, we were really happy with this place. The food is nothing fancy but if you just want good, comforting food in a lovely setting, then this is the place for you.
I will add that I am surprised at some of the more negative reviews about this place. If you've read them, don't let them put you off. Go visit for yourself and form your...

Quite a diverse menu, and the food is plentiful - good pub grub. Billy sponsors each year for a jazz band to come and entertain at the bandstand for 2 weeks, bringing a fab Dixieland treat to the plaza and its surrounding restaurants.
Right on the marina, the view is cute too. The port of the town isn’t very old but has a very rustic feel to it. Nice find.
Lovely little town. Could probably do with government restrictions on buildings asap, as saturation is at risk of being too high. Not many places left with possibility of building, so some local parks would be a massive plus. Or amenities for the local community…
Back to Billy: A special note to billy, his lovely staff, and the jazz band, “thank you for looking out for my parents while they’re here. It means so much to us to know such kind, genuine and...
Read moreIn 25 years of visiting Gran Canaria this is the WORST service I have ever had… I would go as far to say the worst service I’ve ever had worldwide. We had to actually get out of our seats at the end and walk up to the bar area to try and get someone’s attention to settle our bill.
We ate our meal, which was tasty but small portions. (2 half full ice cream scoops of mash for a main meal is terrible). Then waited 15-20 minutes trying to get someone’s attention for desert menus. This was saying excuse me to all the staff and being ignored. We then got the menus and when ready to order same again, fully ignored! For 25 minutes!
Not sure what the reasoning was but there seemed to be a few tables with the staffs friends/family in and they got served quickly.
Absolutely gutted as we’ve been wanting to eat at Billy’s for a while.
Will not be...
