La Rosa Vermuteria & Colmado — Restaurant in Palma

A very bad experience for a restaurant that I had high hopes for.

A table was reserved a day in advance as we were seated directly next to the kitchen and the bar area. During the entire reservation, we were met with the loud clunking of glasses and bells ringing from the kitchen.

We had also ordered a starter menu that included calamari, croquettes (spinach and ham), a salad and grilled octopus. All of these dishes we received at completely different times. Also, instead of getting spinach and ham croquettes, we got spinach and cod croquettes (without being told). When questioning what one of the croquette contains, we were finally told that they were out of ham croquettes and replaced it with a cod croquettes (again, without them telling us anything about it). We were told that the waiters didn’t know it was cod (even though they themselves told us it was cod instead of us implying it was anything related to seafood).

We also received tortillas instead of the salad that was promised because “they were out of salad”. They should’ve asked if we preferred the tortillas instead of just giving it to us and saying “Sorry, we ran out, hope you like this instead”. When asking why we weren’t told beforehand, the waitress (blonde female with tattoos) said that “it’s not her fault” and she didn’t know as well.

Also one of the waiters (brown haired male) was incredibly arrogant from the beginning. When ordering drinks, we ordered a glass of white and red wine. The waiter repeated our order but in a mumbled fashion (both wines sounded like white wine) as we asked him if he indeed wrote down red and white wine. He then responded in a rude manner, saying of course he wrote down the red and the white, even when his speaking was not intelligible.

Honestly this service was a huge let down - not to mention that a lot of the food wasn’t anything worth paying for at a restaurant. I wish we would’ve been located (based on reservation) on the other, more homely looking side of the restaurant but instead, we were placed next to the noisiest part where most of the tourists were put as well.

Could be a stretch - but it seemed like they placed all the Spaniards (who booked reservations) on the nicer, less noisier part of...

Highly DO NOT RECOMMEND! Horrible service with incredibly rude waiters. Save your self time and an absolute headache with having to deal with such abrasive and discourteous staff. It had been less than 10 minutes since the food has been set on the table and the waiters would take the plates away at a whim despite there still being leftovers on the plate. This is only one of the many examples in which the service was left wanting. The pricing of the food is reasonable however in comparison to the quality of the food served it is too expensive.

The food itself was not worth any of the previous glowing reviews. Both visually, textually and also in terms of flavour it was subpar at best. For those who wish to experience authenticity this is not the place for you. The food was bland, oily and honestly looked like it was microwaved after being taken out of a freezer. There was also flies which makes me question the overall hygiene of the restaurant. We spent a maximum of 30 minutes in that restaurant and unfortunately it was 30 minutes too much.

This isn't just an angry rant of a customer with an unfortunate restaurant experience but rather an honest review of someone who wants to stop others from being blinded sided into thinking that this is a worthwhile restaurant. It's so unfortunate this restaurant broke our streak of flavourful and lovely experiences during our stay in mallorca. How they got such posative reviews in the first place is a miracle I would not be suprised if they hired a service to leave positive reviews as that is the only reasonable conclusion I can come to.

If I could leave negative stars I would. Have you ever been to a restaurant that couldn’t care less about the customer nor what they serve to them? Yeah, this was that place. Food was awful. My friend and I had the tuna tartare (was not even cold,) octopus (every bite felt like I was chewing on tiny pebbles,) potato salad (so bland and warm,) pork belly bites (hard as a rock.) I should add that the main dish was the octopus and the pork belly bites were a starter and came at the very end. Food aside being terrible, so was the service. I can’t even say I’m surprised. More so shocked by how sarcastic and rude the staff were to us. Our original waiter didn’t even give us menus for 25 minutes after we sat down. I asked the manager about why the pork belly bites took so long, showed him they were hard as a rock, and bringing up the fact that the octopus tasted like a visit to the dentists office. I said I’ve had a lot of octopus in my life and it’s never felt that way as I chewed each bite and he said to me, “yeah me too sweetie.” Following a sarcastic smirk. Honestly, so appalled by our experience. Take your money elsewhere. I see some of these reviews on here and almost think it’s comical because these folks must really not like fresh/good food.
