MISE EN PLACE Brunch-Bakery & Specialty coffee — Restaurant in Palma

We usually don’t leave a review unless we had an exceptional experience and MISE EN PLACE provided one. The proprietors were both working the counter. A husband and wife team that obviously took great pride in their establishment. The wife, Annika, was from Finland and the husband, Cristin, from Argentina. We had first stopped here in the morning and bought a chocolate cookie on our way to a nearby tourist area. When we reached our destination I ordered a coffee and pulled out the cookie. It was delicious. So good that I told my wife we were going back later. We returned in a few hours and shared a palmeras cookie half dipped in dark chocolate. We accompanied it with a blended caramel double cappuccino shot frappe. The palmeras was crisp and sugary with delicious dark chocolate. The frappe was one of the best I had ever had. Anika said it was her own recipe. The quality of the pastries are top of the line. I consider myself somewhat of a croissant connoisseur as I have traveled the world finding good bakeries and MISE EN PLACE did not disappoint. If you are visiting Palma, Spain you must try this place. I know we will be back. Stumbled upon this quaint place while out shopping during a stop on a cruise. As my friend and I passed by, I spotted the most delicious looking empanadas. I had already eaten, but I had to try one. There was quite the variety to choose from. The last lady behind the counter recommended the pulled pork, much to my delight because it was the one I wanted. She warmed it up, and it was ABSOLUTELY delicious. I've eaten many empanadas, and this one was one of the best! I can't wait to visit your beautiful city again to try more of this...

La primera vez que fuimos fue hace unos días y fue genial, la verdad. La chica que nos atendió fue amable, nos atendió en mesa, nos trajo el pedido, la cafetería estaba llena y los cafés y el croissant que pedimos estaban muy buenos. La reseña de una sola estrella viene por el servicio (o más bien la ausencia de servicio) de hoy. La cafetería estaba prácticamente vacía... Hemos entrado, saludado y nos hemos sentado. Ha pasado una de las chicas 4 veces y ha evitado el contacto visual para que ni la llamáramos. Después de quince minutos como si no existiéramos, me he levantado y acercado a la barra, para ver a una de las chicas comiendo y otra a su lado de cháchara mientras preparaba algo. Le pregunto que si viene alguien a mesa a tomar nota y me dice que se pide en caja. "Ah, ¿Habéis cambiado el sistema de pedido estos días?" Le pregunté para asegurarme. (De ser así, la chica que pasó varias veces por nuestro lado nos lo podría haber indicado y oye, sin problema).Me dijo que sí y me fui a la otra compañera a hacer el pedido. Está última, me dijo que me llevarían el pedido a la mesa. Pasaron veinte minutos, entró gente después de haber pedido yo y les sirvieron a dos mesas y a nosotros nada. Durante esos veinte minutos de espera para dos cafés, podíamos ver cómo una seguía comiendo y todas seguían cotorreando. El sitio es monísimo y los productos están buenos. No todas las empleadas son así, pero desde luego, el turno de hoy es para que les den un toque de atención si es que el público objetivo es más que el turista que va de paso y no va a volver, porque para el residente, experiencias así hace que tache el sitio...
