⭐ The Port Tambayan – A Taste of the Philippines in Palma de Mallorca 🇵🇭🍻

Nestled in the heart of Palma, The Port Tambayan brings the warm, vibrant spirit of Filipino hospitality to the shores of Mallorca.

I’m not a sailor. Nor am I Filipino. I’m a German who feels deeply connected to the maritime world – through my work, my passions, and a deep respect for those who live their lives at sea.

A recent business trip brought me to Palma de Mallorca. I had planned to meet three maritime innovators for interviews, but two appointments were cancelled at the last minute. Suddenly, I found myself with unexpected time – like a vessel whose course had shifted, anchored yet adrift.

I had deliberately chosen to stay near the harbor. Watching ships come and go has a strange, calming magic. There's a rhythm to port life that speaks to something deeper – movement, connection, purpose. And though I wasn’t boarding any ship, I felt a part of it all.

And then, by sheer luck, I passed a place called Port Tambayan.

I didn’t know what to expect – only that I was hungry and curious. “Tambayan,” I’ve since learned, is a Tagalog word for a place to gather, to unwind, to feel at home. And though I’m not Filipino, that’s exactly what this little restaurant offered: warmth, flavor, and the kind of hospitality that doesn’t need a shared passport to feel genuine.

The sizzling sisig, the rich kare-kare, the comforting tapsilog – every dish told a story. I was a stranger, but I was fed like a friend. And if the Philippines are even half as welcoming as this place, then my longing has found a new destination.

To all fellow travelers and seafarers: if your ship ever stops in Palma, treat yourself to the unexpected. The detour might just be the highlight.

Fair winds – and may your next "stranding" be as...

Had high hopes because I love Filipino food. We noticed that there were many locals here. Was busy and expected to wait some for food, but others kept getting food before us. Pansit brought out (dry, no flavor). Forgot our other order(think was sitting on counter somewhere). Asked waitress for some sort of sauce or hot sauce. Had to ask 2 more times to get anything. One time went up to counter to ask and was ignored by 3 employees so sat back down. The food and service here were very frustrating and...

The food is very authentic! It feels like you're eating in the Philippines.. The family that owns the place is very lovely.. Ate Daisy will make you experience the true pinoy hospitality!!! Can't wait to visit again!! Ps. The sisig is to die for!

A hole in the wall. Food is okish, but lots of flies surrounding the table outside and even inside the tiny kitchenette. Annoying. The sanitation definitely needs to be improved. The price is overshooting its small portion and hygiene.
