Paddy's Beach Bar — Restaurant in San Bartolomé de Tirajana

Our experience at Paddy’s was mixed to say the least. We had opted to go as this was a place that was sure to be playing the football, and some live music too. Unfortunately at the same time. The bartender was accommodating and friendly, and poured an excellent pint on every occasion. There are three high definition televisions, and the evening was going well. Until the entertainer showed up. This man walked in, and immediately started talking excessively loudly, insulting a previous female member of staff at the bar relentlessly and utterly disrespectfully. Twenty minutes in to the first half he plugged in and proceeded to talk over the football commentary, and mute the televisions himself without consultation from the customers (all of whom were there exclusively for the football). The music that he played was deafening and dreadful. In between the songs he started monologuing about how other artists were inferior to himself, and insulted customers who requested other musicians. He had the incredible ability to clear out the bar throughout his performance, and drive anybody else away. He argued with customers politely asking him to turn the music down so they could watch the football, and then ignored the majority of the bar asking he shut up. It was unfortunate to have an evening spoiled by a man with such a dreadful outlook on life and infectious miserable nature. Came in to watch Celtic v Aberdeen today (27th May 2023). While placing my drinks order the bar maid was rude and standoffish. Thought nothing of it and decided to sit down anyway and have our drinks to watch the game. After about 10 minutes in, we had noticed people coming in and out taking pieces of paper out of a glass that was on our table, so asked politely about what the glass was for and she gave a blunt one word answer “toilets”. She stood right in front of us on her phone making us feel quite uncomfortable too. I also had JUST finished my drink while my partner still had glass half full and she came over straight away (had hardly even taken my last sip and sat it down) and took the glass asking if i wanted another drink. Hadn’t checked the reviews beforehand however if we had, probably wouldn’t have made the trip down. Just walked out after finishing the drinks and it wasn’t even 20 minutes into the game. Extremely disappointed. Definitely shouldn’t be a bar maid if you are going to be rude to new or existing customers.

Side note: overheard her say that she hates Scottish football. Lol. Okay well aren’t you the owner of the bar? No one is forcing you to showcase Scottish football. Quite frankly we would rather you didn’t in this case.

I only popped in for a quick pint on two occasions so cannot comment on food. Obviously, prices reflect import costs.

First visit, pint of Guinness of course. Prompt, friendly barman that poured the pint CORRECTLY! Only a few seats both inside and out. TV screen for footy. Live music but can't remember what nights. Sat inside to watch the surf and surfers.

Second popped in for a pint of lager. Once again prompt friendly barmaid (do we still use that term anymore because everything's Woke). Ice cold, hit the spot, sat outside in the shade.

I'm booked for Maspalomas again in 2026 and I'll definitely make this my 'local' when I fancy 'a quick one'. Took a business card that is now attached via magnet...
