My visit to Patio Canario La Laguna was a mixed experience. The inside seating area left much to be desired as it had a strong and unpleasant odor, making it impossible for me to stay for more than a few minutes. The outside area, while better in terms of smell, was quite windy due to the open doors in an attempt to ventilate the indoor space. This created a challenging environment for dining. Additionally, the overall ambiance was rather dark.
On the positive side, the staff was helpful and proficient in English, which was a relief for non-Spanish-speaking visitors. The food itself was hearty and flavorful. We ordered rabbit with Canarian sauce, sausages, chickpeas, and mushrooms. The dishes were quite heavy and heavily seasoned with salt, which might not suit everyone's taste.
The mushrooms, though, seemed to be more about the cheese and bacon toppings rather than the mushroom itself, which was somewhat disappointing. The sausage was okay, and the chickpeas, while really tasty, surprised me with the inclusion of meat; I had expected a vegetarian option. The rabbit dish, with the addition of Canarian potatoes, was a standout and delicious.
One remarkable aspect of Patio Canario La Laguna is the affordability of the food, with surprisingly low prices. The coffee, priced at 1.5€, was a pleasant surprise, given the overall cost-effectiveness.
In conclusion, if you can overlook the issues with the indoor area, Patio Canario La Laguna offers reasonably priced, hearty Canarian dishes with friendly and English-speaking staff. However, it's not without its quirks and might benefit from some improvements in ambiance and...
Read moreone star for the salad, which was really tasty. the service wasn ' t friendly, but seemed just to be interested to host as many ppl they could, make ppl leave, after they ve eaten to make place for the next naive tourists. we ordered a menu called "grill variety of different meat". 28Euro (for 2 portions). they brought us a plate with pieces of not recognisable meat, that seemed to be the rests of the other guests. it was dried out , cooked and served without love and so horrible that we decided to serve it to our dogs. the wine was mediocre (housewine) too, that i had to leave it as well. i ve never eaten worse than in this restaurant. the waiter seemed to be aware of what he served, as he never came to ask, if we like it, but tried to avoid us as much as possible.... it s a scandal and a shame what they serve...a real tourist trap... i wonder about all these excellent revues and ask myself if they were just made up or bought by the owners of the place, or if in teneriffa the sort of tourists who visit do not have any clue about spanish eating culture. i described our experience to the guest service in our 5 Star hotel Villa Cortez and showed the photo...they...
Read moreUnfortunately our least pleasant restaurant experience on Teneriffa. The restaurant itself is quite appealing with tons of wood and framed photos of well-known guests. The service was quick but outside of the smiling chef, not at all friendly. The croquettes were quite tasty and we ordered stewed rabbit, Papas Arrugadas and Tollos to follow. We should have left once we heard the microwaves running. Both dishes were swimming in a thick layer of oil and were overly salted. The Papas Arrugadas - a seemingly simple dish, were also microwaved instead of being prepared fresh and were hard. The rabbit at least was very tender, but again overly salted and extremely oily. We’ve had otherwise great food in Tenerife and feel sad it ended on a...
