Café Bar Paris — Restaurant in Santiago de Compostela

Very touristy but VERY good local food for your stay in Sant De Comp. I really wanted Paella alla Valencia (with chicken, not seafood) and there it was on the menu board! A big serving for 2 was ~$28USD and it was EXCELLENT (I make this at home). The bread was delicious and we had a very nice local rioja wine. Perfect. They also have a full bar. The dining room and restrooms are very clean. The woman who was cooking is in an open area, in view, and note: The paella was made to order from scratch! Even the rice. I did not know the young man who waited on us Portugese, so I spoke and ordered in Spanish. Whoops - he only spoke broken English and Portugese. So when he put in our order he ordered full-blown paella with all the seafood -- which my wife cannot eat. He was very sorry and resubmitted the entree, which took another 25 minutes. Fortunately, we were not in a hurry. He gave us more bread and munchies, gratis, for our wait. He was very apologetic and a really nice guy, so I tipped him separate from the check. I recently dined at Candela, and I have to say it was a thoroughly disappointing experience. From the moment we walked in, the service was lackluster at best. The staff seemed disinterested and inattentive, making us wait excessively long for everything, from getting seated to placing our orders.

The ambiance, which I had high hopes for, was ruined by the loud, chaotic environment. It was nearly impossible to hold a conversation over the noise. To make matters worse, the lighting was dim to the point of being uncomfortable, making it difficult to even read the menu.

When our food finally arrived, it was a major letdown. The dishes were poorly executed, lacking in flavor and presentation. The ingredients didn't seem fresh, and several items were overcooked or underseasoned. The portions were also disappointingly small, especially considering the steep prices.

Overall, Candela was an enormous letdown. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone looking for a pleasant dining experience. Save your time and money and...

NO VAYAN!!!!!!!!!! Tuve que dar una estrella. Pero no daría ni 1. Terminando el camino de Santiago decidimos comer ahí al ver un menu con caldo gallego. Hacía mucho frío. Comimos alli el 13 nov por la noche. Nos atendió una chica venezolana (igual que yo) de pelo rubio. Pedimos 2 menus y pimientos de padrón. Mi menú era con churrasco de ternera. Al probarlo no pude no tragarlo por lo duro y fibroso. Le dije que estaba muy malo que no podia comerse de lo duro y fibroso y me dijo ti eres de Venezuela no? Alli la costilla es distinta a lo que le digo si, pero je comido ya aqui este plato y nada que ver. Mi abuela es gallega y lo conozco perfectamnete. Le pido que me lo cambie y quiere cambiarlo por el plato que queria ella un Codillo que no queria. Le pido pulpo y con mala cara lo va a pedir mientras escucho como le dice a los mesoneros o cocina cosas. Cuando lo traen era realmente desagradable, minimo, muy cocieo y de mal aspecto. Por no molestar lo como un poco pero no me gustó nada...le digo a mi mama esto no parece pulpo gallego si no de marruecos por echar broma porque muchos lo traen de all a a y son buenos. A lo que una mujer mayor gallega me dice pues si que es gallego y le reclamo y me dice que a veces viene pequeño y la venezolana le reclamo y me dice que qué quiero pidiendo un menú. Le digo pues reduzcan la porción pero mantengan la calidad. Al rato escucho a la mujer gallega hablar de mi dentro diciendl que no me. Gusta y fuera de lugar todo. Decido pararme decir que nos vamos que paguemos y la chica venezolana me dice "EL CAMINO TE HA DEJADO MAL" UNA FALTA DE RESPETO INSÓLITA! Le pido hoja de reclamacion y me dicen que no tienen lo cual es ilegal y le digo tranquila que yo los consigo por Internet y al irme iban por la hoja y les dije no me den nada ya me encargare de escribir. Siguió discutiendo con mi mama diciendole que yo estaba mal. De verdad el PEOR LUGAR Y MALA IMAGEN. NO DEBERIAN PERMITIR QUE ESTO PASARA UN LUGAR PARA TENERLO CERRADO. CUANDO ABRO AQUI VEO LOS COMENTARIOS Y PEOR!!!!! Lo unicp que salvo del lugar es una chica peruana creo muy educada. Lo demás el pPEOR LUGAR POR MUCHO.
