Damajuana — Restaurant in Santiago de Compostela

That evening, I ended up having dinner quite late, close to 9 PM, which is unusual for me. By then, many restaurants had already stopped serving food. Fortunately, I happened to walk by this restaurant and decided to give it a try. I ordered the daily set menu, which offered a wide variety of choices for both the starter and the main course. The ingredients used were ones I hadn’t seen in any set menus along the pilgrimage route—more premium in quality—yet the set was still only €15, making it incredibly good value for money!

Each dish was prepared to perfection and tasted absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this place to other pilgrims as a great spot to celebrate the completion of their journey.

Just a heads-up: it’s quite popular at lunchtime, so it’s a good idea to make a reservation in advance. I tried to go back the next day but failed three...

I had a disappointing experience here. An older lady (likely the owner) moved me from my seat outside to accommodate a larger party, and I agreed without issue. Later, when I was comfortably minding my business and planning to order another cerveza, I was given the check before I even asked for it — clearly a sign they wanted me out.

To make matters worse, she took the chair where my bag was resting and set it on the ground, saying the table was needed. I pushed back, explaining I’d already moved once and was a paying customer. Strangely, another solo diner was left alone, but I was singled out. The larger group could have waited.

Food was fine, which is why this isn’t 1 star, but the service was terrible and unwelcoming. They don’t treat peregrinos kindly here. As a pilgrim, I’d steer clear...

📍Location: Excellent location. In the heart of the old town. It has an amazing terrace 😋 Taste: Food was ok however for being in a Galician restaurant, portions were super small. One of our dishes was with some metal inside left from after cleaning. 💸 Price: Relation between quality and quantity was not good. It’s a high price for such small portions. You can see them in the photos. ✨ Service: super fast service. 🏬 Interior: Nice decorations inside
