Casa Manolo offers a warm, budget-friendly dining experience in the heart of Santiago de Compostela. For just €14.00, you receive a three-course meal, including bread, water, and your choice of dessert. The staff were very friendly and attentive, which gave a welcoming, friendly atmosphere. The food is served very promptly, with hardly any wait time.
One thing to note: the menu mentions "chips," but these are actually crisps. It's a small detail, but it is worth knowing to set the right expectations.
For starters, the meat croquettes were delicious, with a crispy exterior and flavorful filling. The salad was impressively large—generous enough to serve as a main course—and equally tasty. The white asparagus, though unexpected in colour, was tender and subtly sweet, adding a delightful twist to the meal.
Additionally, there was a mix-up with one of our main dish orders—it was either beef or veal that was served instead of chicken. This led to some confusion, as the dish appeared undercooked at first glance. The staff were quick to apologise and replaced the dish without hesitation. While the ribs were flavorful, they did have a fair amount of fat. Another member of our group found that her fish was served too cold for her liking. Despite these minor issues, the overall value and central location make Casa Manolo a great choice for a casual meal in Santiago. We enjoyed our time there and would recommend it to others looking for good food at a...
Read moreWhen you visit this restaurant, prepare for a lot of food for little money, but with more quantity, you get less quality. I have been already about 5 times there and I was a little disappointed that they don't have the option ice cream as a desert. You only get a piece of supermarket cake with a fart of chocolate sauce, which is fine for the price, but I personally prefer quality over quantity plus a good price for value. The main courses are fine, but not spiced, the chips are not what you would expect chips or rather crisps to be and you basically always have the same side dish to your meat, usually lettuce and crips/chips. I would recommend the grilled chicken over the escalope/schnitzel (pork). For 13,50€ it's pretty much, but I'd rather dine in at the restaurant udon, since I've had a pretty good experience there, but that's I guess personal preference, and keep in mind every restaurant is special, maybe not always special at being good but special...
Read moreLooks nothing from the outside, but the interior is very nicely done. Getting a table was a little awkward - they were clearly disappointed to have a whole table taken up by a sole diner. Having overcome that the table service was prompt, delivering bread and water and immediately taking my order, but it was all a little cursory - maybe because I have no Spanish language? I started with the Russian salad which was fresh, flavourful and nicely presented. Followed with baked salmon which was cooked just right served with a small green salad and thinly sliced hot potato crisps - excellent dish. Finished with the flan, which was disappointing - should have had the Tarta de Santiago. Overall, it thought it was very good value...
