I ate there with my girlfriend yesterday and the food was good, but the female waitress provided terrible, rude service. I lived in Spain for a year and am quite familiar with the restaurant culture and etiquette, and I can say that Americans do not always understand there is a more laid back vibe in terms of wait times for food and the bill, and they sometimes misinterpret innocent actions. But that is not what happened here. From our first moment there she was dismissive, rolled her eyes, had an attitude. We actually discussed it right away, saying maybe she was having a bad day? It is certainly difficult to be a server on a bad day and maintain pleasantries with customers, so I believe the benefit of the doubt is important. However, it later became apparent she was being intentionally offensive. When we asked for the check, she acknowledged, then proceeded to do everything imaginable other than give us the bill for 20 minutes. Asked again politely, she gave a snarky response, refused to make eye contact, then began wiping down tables she had already wiped down in front of us for another 10 minutes. Restaurant is small and was not busy, what was happening was obvious. Finally I got up to ask her manager to pay and suddenly her head snapped around (from doing nothing) and ran up with the bill, as if the idea of accountability had just occurred to her. Look, I’m sure the masses of idiotic tourists are annoying, but guess what? Nobody is forcing you to do your job, you can find another one if you hate it so much, and doesn’t give you the right to be an unrepentant c4ñt. Someone has to call you out. 3 stars instead of 1 as the restaurant should not be overly penalized for one...
Read moreExperienced in customer service around the world in different work domains such as banks and education, me and my husband seriously got the worst treatment at this place. We ordered three things; Medium portion of Sausages, Spanish Omelette and Sangria jar which would have costed us approximately EUR 25, however when we went to pay at counter we were first presented the bill of EUR 23 which I generously told the waitress that it isn't ours. Then they gave us the bill of EUR 30 after the rectification, SERIOUSLY!!!!!?? When we told them about the items we order they said that our waiter (who was only a day old at the job) heard the large portion of sausage that is why they have charged us for the large portion of sausage, HOWEVER WE DIDN'T ORDER IT. I explained to them that we don't even speak the language here so how could your waiter understand that we have ordered the large portion as we pointed at the medium portion. Anyway it isn't about the money, when it comes to Restaurants and Hotel industry it is all about the customer experience. EVEN THERE FOOD WAS NOT OUT OF THE WORLD, I HAD BETTER FOOD AT THE CHEAPER PLACED AROUND THE CITY. THE GUY WAS VERY RUDE AS HE TRIED TO POUR US TWO SHOTS OR A COFFEE TO BUY US OUT, seriously we don't care about your coffee/ shots, it is totally about being fair, like I sad it is all about customer experience. We could have just paid EUR 23 and walked off, but we wanted to be GENEROUS to these...
Read moreSevilla is truly blessed with a high concentration of decent restaurants. If you need a break from your sightseeing (or just to get away from the blistering Andalusian summer sun), every street presents numerous cool and inviting opportunities that can slake both thirst and appetite.
We ducked into this busy restaurant ostensibly for a cool drink after watching a youth marching band perform nearby. Our plans, as usual, quickly changed to having an early dinner after seeing other patrons being served with mouth watering dishes.
We ordered the pork cheeks (bite size chunks cooked till tender), salmorejo (tomato based cold soup, super refreshing, perfect as a starter), grilled baby squid with diced tomatoes and a heavy dressing of olive oil with balsamic vinegar ( very fresh, not over cooked, still soft and chewy).
However, our favorite must have been the tortillitas de camarones. Tiny shrimp embedded in a thin and light batter of chickpea flour fried till crispy. This is the perfect crispy savory snack to go with your ice cold apperitif.
The chirpy and attentive service staff all speak pretty decent English so ordering was a breeze (they have an English menu). Indoor seating for maybe 25 -30 with additional outdoor seating if you don't mind the siesta inducing heat. If there weren't so many other places to eat from we'd have ended up...
