Terrible customer service. Racist servers. Unpleasant experience. Do not come here if you're a tourist. Would give it 0 stars if I could.
I emailed the restaurant more than a month ago to express my dissatisfaction and hoped that the management would reflect upon my experience - never got a response. I then wrote a follow up email - never got a response. I then completed the satisfaction survey - never got a response. So here I am writing a review, hoping you all won't have to go through the same terrible experience I had dining at this restaurant. Seville has many amazing restaurants - do not waste your time and money here!
Below is the email I sent to them - if anyone wants to know what an absolutely horrifying experience I had (I only show parts of it as there is a word limit).

First, as we knew there was a slight language barrier (as we can't speak Spanish and not all servers being able to speak English), we put our order down in writing on our phone. When the waitress took our order, we tried to tell her what we wanted while showing her our phones so there would be no room for miscommunication. However, she had no intention to look at what was written down, and not to our surprise, a wrong dish was served to us subsequently and we had to explain that we ordered the Tuna Tartare instead of the Tomato dish. On a side note, it turns out there was another waitress that spoke perfect English, and yet that waitress did not serve us.
Throughout dinner, we felt one of the waitresses' attitude was very snappy and borderline rude, in spite of us being very well-mannered ourselves. It is a shame such common courtesy was not reciprocated by that waitress.
Then, when the paella came, the server put the whole tray on our table and we were given two big wooden spoons. We then had to mix, scoop and serve ourselves. We had no problem with this until we saw that the few tables next to us received a different treatment - their paella would be put on a separate table next to them, then mixed, served on a white plate and placed on the table by the server. We were shocked by this. We were not sure why we received "special treatment". Afterwards, when we looked at pictures on Google, we also saw that other customers had their paellas mixed by the server and served in a white dish (unlike us), which confirmed that there was indeed a difference in treatment.
Towards the end of the meal, it started drizzling. We were covered by a big umbrella, so we were not too worried. Right after we asked for the bill, another waiter came over to our table, abruptly lifted the umbrella and moved it to another table right behind us. As the waiter was taking the umbrella away, he did not attempt any eye contact with any of us patrons at the table to ask if he could do so (as is normally expected at any restaurant, especially in a fancy restaurant such as yours). Further, it was very strange that he felt the need to move our big umbrella away, when there were approximately two/three big umbrellas that were not being used by any customers. It is important to point out that the waiter was not in a rush because he proceeded to chat with the group of four ladies very happily without taking their order. Such differential treatment and lacklustre service stands in stark contrast from what is expected of a well-established restaurant.
For the record, we paid nearly 100€ for the dinner, and therefore expected ordinary service at the minimum. Even so, we had the most unpleasant dining experience we have ever had in Spain, as there was an astonishing number of three waiters that contributed to this unfortunate result.
From here on out, I hope that the servers at La Casa de Maria would receive proper training and would act professional, so no other diners would need to have the same miserable experience that we had at...

We decided to break away from our tour group for a night on our own to celebrate our anniversary. The place we decided to go to was La Casa Maria, make sure to make a reservation. We showed up 16 minutes late and almost missed out on our table! But the hostess still had one table for us in the shade on the patio (on the river walkway) across the street from the indoor restaurant. Sun was beginning to set off the river, and the temperature was beginning to drop from the 90+ temperature, which was terrific! Our photos show the area. After we were seated, Rafael de las Reyes and his runner/server Darlene stopped by and dropped off some bread and to see what we wanted to drink. We went with a local bottle of white wine recommended by their sommelier. Perfect addition to our dinner. We ordered the tomato appetizer, which was a huge 8 inch wide tomato smothered in olive oil and a little salt. It was perfect! My wife is not much of a tomato lover, so she went with the grilled artichokes. OMG, was it delicious in a white cream sauce with spices and paprika. While eating, our waiter kept bringing us bread to soak up the oil ad cream and also kept bringing us small pours of different aperitif wines to keep us busy and engaged. We went with the shrimp, cuddledish, and clams in a pasta palliela for two. It was very yummy! The drinks kept coming, and the meal was made even better by the staff who came and sang happy anniversary to us and brought us a glass of champagne! If you are celebrating or just want to enjoy a local Spanish meal. Make this your spot for dinner. We left just before 11 PM, and we had a wonderful meal and enjoyed the experience! People were just coming in for dinner at that time. Opened late and well worth the enjoyed atmosphere,...
Read moreWe stumbled upon La Casa de María on a quiet weekday afternoon and it turned out to be one of the top finds of our trip. It’s a classy spot right by the water near the Triana Bridge, with a calm and inviting vibe that made it perfect for a midday break when most places were closed.
The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The staff made us feel welcomed right away and the pace of the meal was just right, relaxed and never rushed.
We ordered the Rice with Iberian fillet pork steak, served with peppers and acorn-fed ham, and the Rice with free-range chicken, served with mushrooms and flambéed foie gras. Both dishes were beautifully presented and felt thoughtful and elevated.
Before the mains, they brought bread with olives and olive oil. I have to say, the olives alone were unforgettable, incredibly flavorful and probably the best we had in all of Seville. Honestly, I’d go back just for those.
The pork dish was the standout. It was rich, savory and the flavors worked together perfectly. The chicken dish was also good, but the chicken had a slightly sweet touch that didn’t quite hit the mark for me personally. That said, the dish was well made and it’s purely a matter of taste. It didn’t take anything away from how much we enjoyed the overall experience.
Considering the location, the quality of the food and the service, the prices were very fair. It felt like great value for the setting and the level of care that went into everything.
If you’re walking along the riverside or near the cathedral and looking for a relaxing, high-quality meal with great service, La Casa de María is absolutely worth a stop. We’ll...
