Have been seriously missing Chinese food since I have been away from home for more than 2 weeks… so I was pleasantly delighted that there was a Chinese restaurant just beside my airbnb apartment!
The dining establishment was clean and its interior looking like a glammed up Chinese restaurant. I saw the previous reviews stating that the restaurant looks dated but I thought everything looked pretty new…. Maybe they renovated?
Anyway, the food was pretty good. I felt it was authentic enough… as if I was back home in Singapore. In fact, I dare say that the quality of food served here is better than some Chinese restaurants I have had in Singapore.
I enjoyed the claypot tofu and the stir-fried beef. The beef was extremely tender. The spare ribs was delicious as well but I found it a little too salty for my liking. And did I mention that the portion in this restaurant was HUGE! I ordered three dishes + two bowls of rice and by the time I was done, I was able to takeaway 1 portion of rice plus 1 dish worth of food. Thankfully the restaurant was more than happy to allow me to do takeaway for the leftovers.
I think this is a good Chinese restaurant for anyone who is craving for good Chinese food. The food here has been approved by this...
Read moreI hated this place. I have never not once in my life got treated so badly in a restaurant.
What happened was, when I wanted to order for myself three portions they laughed at me and told me I can order only two 1/2 portions!! Like what the hell? How can they treat customers like that? Yes i know I am only one tiny girl but that doesnt mean I couldn't order like 100 portions if I want!! After that they spoke very rudely about me on the counter - in spanish of course - and quite loud actually because they didn't realise that I am able to understand Spanish. On the top of the iceberg: as I was eating my very tiny, half-cold/half-warm meals they sat behind me and started shovel food into their mouths. And also when I asked the check they gave at first wrong one 10.05 and after that brought me another one, which was 12.35.
I genuinely hope that no one will ever go there. I feel bad because the food actually was quite good, even though it was kinda cold, but when the service is as bad as that was it doesn't matter how good...
Read moreZhen Bao had its pros and cons during our Sunday visit at 3 PM. We ordered xiao long bao and Fried Ravioli as starters, plus Fried noodles with chicken and beef for the main course. The xiao long bao was served quickly and tasted great, but the Fried Ravioli arrived late, even after the main dishes.
The main courses came at different times and were disappointing—too greasy and lacking flavor. There was also an initial mix-up with the order. The service was friendly, especially one staff member who spoke English. The men’s restroom lacked a lock, affecting privacy.
Overall, good starters, but main courses and some service aspects need...
