When told we would be seated in "the middle", we assumed in the middle of the restaurant, not in a long row of connected tables with 12 other dinners. We should have left then. Instead, we waited 15 minutes for a waitor to come and take our drinks order. We had chosen our food order so put that in. Moments later another waitor came and asked for our dessert order. After another prolonged wait, our drinks came and then our food. We had been anticipating reasonable portions. Having already been disappointed by the lack of the lamb shoulder, when my pork arrived with a spoon of fried onions and a sprinkling of dried onion scratchings, I was surprised. More so by the five "canarian" potatoes, which were in fact boiled potatoes. The pork was tasteless and clearly hadn't been seasoned. Photo attached. My partner had a mixed meat kebab, which was swimming in grease, and my mother, lamb cutlets which were so lacking in meat, her cutlery was down in 5 minutes. The only saving grace, was my dad's roast chicken breast in mushroom sauce, which is the only reason my food score was not a one. But then as he said, you can't mess up a chicken breast. The service was chaotic, with plates of food being carried all over the restaurant by young men, clearly with no idea, being managed by two older gentlemen who were equally as unorganised and unprofessional. In years of coming to Lanzarote, I have never left a restaurant or bar, without leaving a tip. Restaurant Playa Mar has been my first. Please don't make the same mistake.

Poor service and a really disappointing meal and experience. As single diner, I appreciate not as profitable as a family/couple, but still a customer they are are happy to seat, so deserves some attention. Drinkers ordered initially before meal, but did not make appearance for over 10 minutes when waiter asked finally if I wanted a drink and advised already ordered. Finally turned up ad did the garlic bread STARTER and Seafood Paella, at same time, so much for starter. I hate fish bones so usually a Seaford paella, is Seaford, not fish. But this one had the cheaper fish, and bones beyond belief, which completely ruined the meal as you have to carefully eat each fork full checking for bones. I also felt there was very little rice in the Paella leading g to a very stingy portion that look unappetising. I was also moved out of my seat. Having been sat there for a bigger group. Not even a courtesy anything for the hassle A really poor experience and will certainly not return ad many much better restaurants in the area that serve better food and much better customer experience

**Restaurante Playa Mar: Seafront Grill & Steak House** If you're looking for a delightful dining experience by the sea, Playa Mar Seafront Grill & Steak House is a must-visit. I recently enjoyed a Greek dish here that was so exquisite I found myself mopping the plate clean. The flavors were robust, and the ingredients were clearly fresh and of high quality. The setting is charming, offering beautiful views of the seafront. Despite its open layout, there's plenty of shade, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy a meal on a sunny day. The authentic Argentinian grill adds a unique touch to the menu, catering to both local and international tastes. Inside, the restaurant boasts an authentic and cozy atmosphere, with decor that enhances the overall dining experience. With seating for around 100 people, it's spacious yet retains a warm and welcoming vibe. Overall, Playa Mar Seafront Grill & Steak House offers an excellent combination of great food, stunning views, and a lovely ambiance. Whether you're a local or just visiting, this is definitely a place to try.

Restaurante PLAYA MAR sept23

WE ARE BACK 🤣🤣😇😎😉

OK so here we go on the first of our reviews, playa Mar, our 3rd visit.. let's start with atmosphere and service. The atmosphere was pleasent and not to loud and both waiters we had were pleasent although the one taking our order messed up slightly by bringing a dish slightly wrong, but was quickly rectified. Libby-Anne went Chicken Corden Bleu and chips and Rice and so did Mel, Sam had the breaded pork with a mushroom sauce and I had the Greek Gyro chicken. Libby said her meal wasn't bad but not great and really was too dry and not very much of accompanying mushroom sauce which isn't very Cordon Bleu to me, so it was basically Chicken schnitzel in disguise 🤣 Mel had much the same opinion but both said the mushroom sauce was very nice. Sam had the Breaded pork, formly know as schnitzel and really liked it, but again with the now infamous mushroom sauce.. All 3 dishes came with chips and I am sorry they were bloody awful, If I was scoring the chips alone then a 4/10 at best.. Then to mine, 😩 I had the Greek dish Gyros, I expected better and was disappointed, I asked for baked potato and got chips, the waiter was very apologetic and quickly returned with a baked potato on a side plate and left without taking away my chips I didn't ask for.. The dish also included a salad that look as though it was sponsored by Amy's Kitchen, and was launching a hostile takeover on my plate.. It turned out, along with the baked potato which was delicious the best thing on my plate, at this point I have to say I've been known to have a takeaway kebab or two in my time and had some outstanding gyros.. This unfortunately was not one of them, the meat was firm and not tender and just did not taste very good, akin to the two day old left over version you warm on a Monday, if your a poor uni student allegedly!

We are going to award scores out of 40 now for our famy reviews based on each of us score our own meal and experiences.

The total bill came in at €73 so just over £15 each person, not the best value in my opinion, but not bottom of the value list either..

So the score for Play mar is a slightly above avarage 27 😢 based on that score our conclusion is we won't be back this holiday at least..

Scores: Libby-Anne 7 Mel 7 Jay 5 Sam 8

I hope you enjoyed reading my first family review of this visit, if you did, consider a reply or a like, if you didn't then please realise you're not forced to read them and I have never the intention to annoy anyone.. And apologise for taking up your time on holiday.

Say hello. If you spot us.. Jay...

Disaster experience. Read other reviews   look at the people leaving!!!!!

Monday  7 pm . We went for a meal here as we hadn't tried it before.

On arrival we saw it was about 3/4 full.

Were taken to a table,  and had to wait a long time for any service, we almost left (should have).

The waiters and waitress were rushing about table to table, there didn't seem to be enough staff. All staff had long harassed faces and didn't look happy.

Eventually we were served and made our orders. We noticed an adjoining table had an issue with their order and other customers didn't appear to be enjoying their meals.

Ours arrived, almost thrown on the table,  no questions to see if we needed anything else.

The steak looked burnt, there were about  a dozen chips and two pieces of pepper on the plate, I tried to get a waiters eye,  no joy, Eventually I got one and asked for a better serving of chips, he gave me an uncomfortable look, but eventually turned up with a plate full, again just dropping the plate on the table.

I tried the steak with one of their very sharp knives, there was a lot of gristle and it was hard to cut. I saw it was cooked rare,I asked for medium rare, this was blooded. I again tried to get a waiters attention !!!!! Was I invisible????

There was a man who appeared to be a manager of some type directing staff, he was wearing  scruffy t shirt and shorts. I approached him and explained my issue, a waiter took the meal away and It was further cooked abd dumped on the table.

The steak was still very tough and hard to eat, the chips were fine.

I told the waiter it wasnt good,  no response,  we left most of it paid and left.

The whole experience was rubbish, service,  food and atmosphere.

Another table next to us stated They also had a bad meal and experience.

I should have checked the recently posted reviews.

I had a bad blocked chest the rest of the night and had overnight stomach issues.

What should have our last evening special meal wasn't,  it destroyed the rest of our evening .

We won't go back or recommend this restaurant to anyone.

They need to sort their staffing levels, food quality  and service.

I'm not expecting a reply to...

Stopped here for tea on our last night of our holiday as we liked the look of the place, in the windows you can see all the meats and it was busy, great start. We were impressed at the amount the menu had to offer, there is something for everyone. A margarita was ordered but when it came out it didn’t look like a traditional margarita, upon trying it, it didn’t taste like one either, it was extremely salty and had a very cheap chemical taste. This was asked to be change right away and swapped for a mojito as this was also ordered and was lovely. We apologised that it wasn’t to our taste, but were met with grumbles from the waitress and waiter attending us who exchanged words in Spanish which I could understand... “it is a salty drink what does she expect” after an awkward couple minutes of him tutting and staring at the drink he picked it up and walked off, no sorry or acknowledgement whatsoever. Not great. Starters came out, which were ok but when the mains came out only one person out of our party of 4 enjoyed it which was the mixed grill. The gyros meat was hard and all fatty off cuts, it was not nice at all and extremely salty, this couldn’t even be finished as a result. The rump steak on the specials was asked to be cooked medium rare and it came out very well done, it was tough as anything. We also ordered the grilled chicken in mushroom sauce, the menu stated it came with rice, vegetables and chips, the rice was missing and when questioned it then took another 10 minutes to arrive which at that point the meal was nearly finished.. the mushroom sauce tasted like Heinz mushroom soup, overall the meals lacked flavour and quality. We were not impressed with the meal or the service we received at all, I would not...
