UPDATE: Since my original review, unfortunately I have had to change it given the most recent experience. Since its opening it has become quite a popular spot for tourists (not the issue) but this has reflected in the way in which the staff treat the customers. Most recently (08.08.2022) I went there for a coffee with some friends and the staff were quite rude and not very helpful. Coffee is still good, but if you are wanting a better experience overall, there are much nicer places where the coffee is just as good (in some cases better) and the service is a lot friendlier. A bit of shame that its turned out like that.
ORIGINAL: Great spot for breakfast/lunch. Coffee is also good and service is nice and friendly staff. Can definitely recommend the avocado toast. Suitable for both vegetarians and vegans. good price vs food quality as well. Usually quite full during peak hours so recommend to get there early or outside...
Read moreFilter coffee tasted stale and flat, as if they never clean the coffee machine and grinder and/or never changed the water filter since the initial installation. The food, except the avocado toast with tahini, is super unhealthy: tons of fried eggs swimming in a pool of oil, cheap cheese and greasy bacon. Sweets look great, but they are a disappointment as they taste too sweet and greasy, it´s basically loads of sugar and butter killing any other flavor. The place is overcrowded, especially outside, as they try to fit in way more people than they can actually accommodate. There even are two tables, just by the entrance, where you get blasted in your face by the AC machine evacuation system while trying to drink your coffee. It is very discomfortable and probably quite unhygenic. Staff is mostly nice, except the blue eyed barista who seemed very snappy and like he´d rather be anywhere else...
Read moreThis evening I ordered a Hot Chocolate at Blackbird, and it was DISGUSTING. The worst I've had in ages and likely one of the WORST customer treatments as well.
The waitress who attened me was incredibly RUDE and snooty, as if I was causing her a huge bother when I (at first) politely told her that it wasn't at all good. It tasted of water and the "chocolate" wasn't even well dissolved, un-melted crumbs were even still visible.
Arguing with me about it and giving me a super nasty look, she sourly offered to make another.
Appalled by this awful experience and treatment, I will avoid Birdbird café from now on and will not recommend it to my clients from now one. There are better places in Valencia with much better treatment.
The re-made version is still pretty gross, although a tad better, I guess. It's "drinkable" but 4€!! So, the Chocolate Puchero they serve isn't...
