Bellissimo! A Taste of Italy at Santa Rita Restaurant in Valencia

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Santa Rita, an Italian gem nestled in the heart of Valencia, Spain, and I cannot help but sing praises for this culinary haven.

From the moment I walked through the door, the charming ambiance transported me to the streets of Italy. The warm and inviting atmosphere created the perfect backdrop for a memorable dining experience. As a lover of Italian cuisine, I was eager to explore the menu, and Santa Rita did not disappoint.

The culinary journey was nothing short of spectacular. Each dish was a masterpiece, a symphony of flavors that captured the essence of authentic Italian cooking. From the savory pasta dishes to the mouthwatering salads, every bite was a celebration of culinary artistry.

However, what truly set Santa Rita apart was the outstanding service provided by the dynamic duo, Daniel and Lorenzo. Their passion for Italian cuisine shone through as they guided us through the menu with expertise and enthusiasm. Their recommendations were spot-on, enhancing our dining experience and showcasing the breadth of flavors Santa Rita has to offer.

Daniel and Lorenzo's attention to detail and commitment to exceptional service made the evening truly special. Their warm smiles and genuine hospitality added a personal touch, making us feel like cherished guests in an Italian home.

Santa Rita is not just a restaurant; it's a culinary voyage to Italy, right in the heart of Valencia. The dedication of the staff, especially Daniel and Lorenzo, to creating an authentic and delightful experience is commendable. I left Santa Rita with a satisfied palate, a heart full of appreciation, and a longing to return for another taste of Italy.

If you're in Valencia and have a hankering for exquisite Italian cuisine, look no further than Santa Rita. Grazie mille for an unforgettable...

We did not have the best experience eating here for the first time. We came as we wanted to try the more upscale ambiance and a slightly different, although very similar, menu as San Tommaso (same ownership), which we have enjoyed several times. We were seated promptly with a reservation on a Sunday evening and enjoyed a bottle of wine and appetizers of the caprese salad and a provolone and oregano focaccia. The tomatoes in the caprese were ok but not great out of season. The foccacia was flavorful and good dough (but more like a pizza). The pasta entrees were a big disappointment. We had 3 cacio e pepe’s with spaghetti pasta and a carbonara with linguine. They did all of them tossed in a big cheese wheel at the table to melt the cheese. A neat twist but unfortunately they brought the cooked pasta out that wasn’t hot, so all the dishes were not warm when served. The carbonara was a very strange orange color, possibly from very orange egg yolks, but it reminded me of melted Velveeta or Cheese Whiz. It was a gooey mess and I ate only half of it. It reminded me of no carbonara I had ever had in Italy or elsewhere. All four of us didn’t feel great later that evening. The cacio didn’t have much flavor even when we added more pepper at the table. The tiramisu for dessert was almost all custard and only 1/4 of it had ladyfingers - not a great rendition. Service was friendly but nothing out of the ordinary. And they added a €1.60 per person coperto to the bill, which could have been hidden somewhere in the extensive menu, but this was the first time we have seen this appear on a...

The menu had my favorite pasta: cacio e pepe. In the menu they had written that they grate the pecorino when the dish arrives at the table, but no: no grating was done. I got quite confused as I got the dish, I could only see few pieces of pepper. As the name suggests, cacio e pepe revolves around pepper so it should be the essential ingredient in it. The serving size was also very small, it almost looked like a serving for a kid. On top of all of this the pasta was cold. When I tasted the pasta, i could only taste parmesan cheese which is quite weird. I don’t know what kind of pecorino cheese they use, because I have never had a pecorino cheese that tasted like that. I’m glad that there was a pepper grinder on the table, so that helped the pasta a bit. However the pasta itself was cooked perfectly, it was chewy and soft. We also ordered a lasagna. The portion was generous but it didn’t look appetizing at all. I almost couldn’t eat it because it was so salty. There wasn’t many lasagna sheets in the lasagna, plus they were all overcooked and mushy. It’s almost like a dish consisting only of beef and cheese. The service was pleasant and they were all kind, even if they were in a hurry. If you plan on eating here, please stick to the pizzas! The pasta tastes as unappetizing as it looks.

A place more interested in turn over than in service. I waited a year to bring my closest 12 friends here for my birthday - and I’m very sorry I did. Instead of welcoming us all on arrival or even wishing me a happy birthday, they told us we would have to be gone by 8:30, again and again. We were rushed the entire time and treated rather disrespectfully. It was obvious they were interested in turn over and making money, not in providing service. They were happy for us to place orders but not to finish what we ordered or to even take time to enjoy what we ordered. The final insult was when the waitress dropped the bill off and mumbled a little “thank you” with her back turned to us. We were rather shocked to see that they also took the liberty of adding a service fee - likely knowing we would have left 0.00€ for the way they made us feel and the experience they chose to create. I had to leave my birthday cake and my drink unfinished - as pictured. They were rude, arrogant and pushy. Great food but honestly, they ruined what should have been a special night with my guests. Big tables need 2.5-3 hours and if you have to rush people like this, don’t take the booking. If you want to be treated well and have great food, I recommend Lambrusqueria.
