We were recommended by a foodie friend for here and went with high expectations. Food was OK (tuna tartare was exceptional, octopus was good, zamburiñas were sad and sepia was lacking), but the service was horrible. Within the first 5 minutes of our visit, we were asked 6 times (exactly 6 by 3 different people) what we wanted to drink. I first said I wanted to wait my friend, once my friend came, they came 2 more times, we said we are checking the menu. When we asked questions about some items on the menu, again with the drinks. We felt pressured there and usually Spanish people are very relaxed, they don't bother you to order. Menu is online so we needed to up and down, food and drinks menu, they need to give people some space to check the menu. This start of our experience completely shaped our dining. After the second plate I think they got the signals and stopped bothering us. However, at the very last bite of my friend, as soon as her fork touched her plate, they came and took away the plate, not even waiting for her to finish what she has in the mouth.
On another note, they give complimentary mistela and leave the bottle at the table. Tarts were phenomenal (which were complimentary too). Truffles were very good too.
Food was interesting enough for me to try again but with the service I'm...
Read moreOk, we are travelling again, this is my first trip abroad for three years. It was good to fly again and to be surrounded by native people and to taste native food once more. We found the Civera looking for an authentic Spanish experience on Google. When we arrived we were lucky to be allowed in as they were fully booked, but were offered seats at the bar, not bad if you don't mind as the going ons behind the bar is quite entertaining to view, if not for more privacy at a table, it's probably best to book first. The staff were very friendly and greeted every one warmly, some with hugs and kisses, obviously frequent users of the place. English was limited as we conversed with our server behind the bar, but with my broken Spanish we managed to order what we needed, paella at the end. But it was one of the best and Spanish families in the restaurant were also enjoying the same. Good for the locals, therefore good enough for us, I thought. So book before you go, and there you will find the menu to be downloaded on your phone, in other languages including English, asked if you are not sure of a particular dish, try new stuff and if you are still not sure, watch what others are eating and point it to the waiter and say "mismo" he/she will know what you mean. The place is quite cosy and easy to find...
Read moreIf you're in Valencia and craving fresh, high-quality seafood, look no further than Marisquerías Civera. From the moment you step inside, you're welcomed by an elegant yet warm atmosphere that perfectly complements the dining experience.
The menu offers an impressive variety of seafood dishes, all expertly prepared with a balance of traditional Mediterranean flavors and modern flair. The paella de mariscos is an absolute must-try, brimming with succulent prawns, mussels, and squid, cooked to perfection. Their grilled octopus was tender with just the right amount of char, and the oysters were some of the freshest I've ever tasted.
What truly elevates the dining experience at Civera is the attentive and friendly service. The staff are knowledgeable about the menu and are more than happy to recommend dishes or wine pairings. It’s clear that they take pride in ensuring each guest has an unforgettable experience.
The restaurant also boasts an excellent wine list, featuring local Valencian wines that pair beautifully with the seafood offerings. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just enjoying a casual lunch, Marisquerías Civera delivers on every front.
