Ramen Shifu - Gran Via — Restaurant in Valencia

I am not a big fan of this restaurant, despite the cool interior design. As someone who works in service themselves, I think the service in this restaurant is really bad. Both times I was there, the waiters didn't really come to our table, which made wait times really, really long. When they brought the Ramen, they forgot spoons. Everybody who works there is really kind, but it should either be communicated clearly that the waiters need to be called or gone to, or the waiters should be instructed to pass the tables significantly more often and come to their guests.

Sadly, I am also not a fan of the Ramen. It looks quite good, but both times I was there, I got pieces of meat that looked and tasted like they were of rather really cheap quality (pieces with not so much good quality meat on them). If it happens once, okay, but it happened two times to me and also my boyfriend when he was there with me. The Ramen does not stand out to me at all and is honestly not that enjoyable to eat, in my opinion. I've had much better for similar prices.

I think it's a pity, because this place has so much potential with its central location and interesting interior design. But the bad quality of the food and the lack of service will not be bringing me back any time soon. It's good for a fun night out with friends, but if you don't have a lot of money, better spend it at a different Ramen place to have something that tastes better and with better customer service for an overall better experience. Hope to see this place improve...

La decoración es muy vistosa y tiene ese estilo callejón neón de China Town. Nos sentamos cerca de la ventana que da a la calle, y mi primer problema viene con las luces de esa esquina. Al tener magenta y cyan iluminando al mismo tiempo, los fideos se ven grises al llegar a la mesa y parecen poco apetecibles. Esto me da a entender que la decoración es solo para sacar fotos de postureo y distraer de lo que es la comida.

Una vez llegó una de las camareras, nos dio la bienvenida, tomó la nota de las bebidas muy amablemente y yo le pregunté por el desafío picante que aparece en la carta. La chica me dijo que no estaba segura y que le preguntaría a una compañera que se pasara a explicarme. Fue bastante profesional de su parte admitir que no tenía dicha información y ofrecer una solución, así que ahí bien. Ahora, la compañera nunca se pasó por nuestra mesa. Tuve que llamarle la atención a otra de las camareras para preguntar de nuevo. El supuesto desafío era el mismo sistema que está descrito bajo todos los platos picantes, el cual consiste en escoger de nivel 1 a 5, siendo el 5 el más picante, y nada más. Igual soy yo, pero cuando alguien me desafía a algo, usualmente ofrece alguna recompensa. No digo que me esperaba la cena gratis, pero un detallito como una foto en la pared o tu nombre escrito en kanji en una linterna de papel en la decoración del local habría estado bien. En fin, nos tomó la nota de la comida y se fue.

Llegaron las bebidas, que en nuestro caso eran los dos tés helados (o como pone en el menú "Iced Tea") con frambuesa y otro de lo mismo pero con limón. El de limón estuvo bueno, pero el de frambuesa supo demasiado artificial y no hubo rastro de ninguna frambuesa.

De entrantes pedimos Takoyaki, Gyoza tradicionales y Age Gyoza: La ración de takoyaki fueron cuatro bolitas y eran inconsistentes, dos de ellas venían sin trozo de pulpo, uno vino con un trozo y otro vino con dos trozos. Ambos tipos de gyoza no estaban mal, pero estaban empapados de salsa okonomi y mayonesa que es como suele servirse en puestos callejeros y no en un restaurante.

De platos principales pedimos un Kimchi Katsu Ramen con nivel picante 1, un Shoyu Ramen y un Tonkotsu Ramen: El Kimchi Katsu Ramen ni fú ni fá. Metieron el kimchi frío e hizo que la sopa del ramen estuviese casi tibia para cuando llegó a la mesa, el cebollino no se notaba así que no estaba fresco, los fideos apenas tenían sabor y el filete de cerdo estaba algo duro. En cuanto a picante, me considero una persona con tolerancia estándar y para mí estaba bien, aunque igual se pasaron un poco con la pimienta negra porque mayoría del picor se quedaba en la garganta. El Shoyu Ramen estaba malo. El char siu parecía más frito en la sartén que a la brasa ya que no tenía nada del "char", el caldo más que a salsa de soja sabía a Avecrem de pollo y estaba blanquecino, los fideos otra vez sin sabor y el pak choi estaba duro. El Tonkotsu Ramen fue terrible. El caldo sabía a pescado, otra vez fideos sin sabor y char siu mal hechos. Fue el peor de los tres principalmente por el caldo, no tengo ni idea de si sirvieron el equivocado o que simple y llanamente estaba malo, aparte de ser el ramen más simple de todos y que tampoco haya cumplido expectativas.

Pagamos unos 35€ por persona (un entrante, ramen y dos bebidas por cabeza) y tomando en cuenta la calidad, diría que no lo vale.

La comida para mí es lo definitivo en cuanto a restaurantes y, aunque las raciones estén bien, el sabor, la temperatura y la textura de los platos de Shifu Ramen eran nefastos.

Unfortunately it was a very bad experience. We are from Germany, and we went there for dinner. My daughter, husband and I. The waitress girl who did ordering for us was very friendly. We ordered some vegetarian Dumplins and Karaage for our daughter. However, they are obviously from frozen package, not fresh made, you could definitely taste that!!! However, we accepted it. My husband and I, we ordered Tan-Tan Ramen and Shichu Ramen. They were really awful! The soup of the Shichu Ramen had a very strange colour. Also, the meat tasted very old. I couldn‘t bear, and I had to talk with the Chinese Chef. He tried and admitted that, he took the Ramen away. The Tan-Tan Ramen was also not fresh. It was really disappointed and sad!!! We would like to know if the owner himself would like to eat those kind of Food!!! We didn‘t eat our Ramen at all, we paid 33€ and went away. Really not recommend, it is very unhealthy if you go for not fresh food there. You could also buy some frozen packs from supermarket and warm it up at home!
