I really like the fact that the horchata is organic and no sugar added. It was my first time without sugar so of course it tasted strange. It definitely takes getting used to but I know it is better for me so next time wherever I go, I will start asking for no sugar.
The waitress was very friendly. I went at a time when it wasn’t busy and there were many empty tables.
My concern is related to their practices on covid. I’m not sure why the dirty tables were not cleaned. There were 8 dirty tables on my side of the room. The only explanation that I can think of is that they clean it when you sit down so it’s freshly cleaned. That’s a bit gross imo. I watched a guy sit at a dirty table while the waitress cleaned it.
Also I didn’t notice until after, my sugar packet had dried coffee stains on it. You can also see the coffee spot on the container they use to bring the sugar to you. (I did not order coffee.) I hope they aren’t reusing sugar that someone else touched. Also it seems to be powder sugar but it was clumping. I only thought of this now...I wonder if it’s supposed to be like that or if the coffee soaked parts of the package and added moisture inside?
I really want to support organic stores!! But it’s hard since we’re in a pandemic and we all...
Read moreEdit: Wow! The owner essentially just called me a basic b-word in their reply because I didn't like their orxata! Absolutely astonishing. 😂😂 Taste is subjective, friend. They didn't even deny treating me rudely in their reply nor apologize. And furthermore, he's talking smack about other businesses. How petty. Not a good look, sir. 🫡 For those passing by, at the end of this review I leave a few suggestions of orxata places I liked more, to put a face to the (small, NOT industrial) businesses this owner is trying to put down.
OG review: I just wanted to sit down for a sec to put some sugar in my orxata before I left to take it away. The server was so mean to me, though, shooing me like I was a stray dog. My man, I already paid you 3.50€ for this. Relax for just a little bit, can you? The orxata was mediocre too. I know of way better places.
Edit: just to name a few better places to spite the petty owner:
Els Sariers La Xufera L'orxateria obrador de bou Horchatería blanc i verd Orxateria santabárbara
Now, let's see the owner talk trash about...
Read moreI came here to try horchata, a local Valencian drink I was really curious about. The place had great reviews, so I had high expectations. However, I made the mistake of ordering the version with frambuaz ice cream—and unfortunately, it was a big disappointment.
I strongly recommend not adding ice cream to horchata. The flavor of the horchata gets completely lost, and the combination simply doesn’t work. I couldn’t taste the horchata properly, nor enjoy the ice cream. In fact, I believe this version should be removed from the menu altogether. It’s misleading for people who genuinely want to experience the traditional flavor.
That said, I also had a slice of carrot cake, and it was absolutely delicious—moist, rich, and perfectly balanced. Because of that, I’m giving 3 stars. I’m sure that if I had ordered the classic horchata, I might’ve had a better overall impression.
Still, I felt it was important to share this feedback, and I genuinely recommend the café to reconsider the horchata + ice...
