Acapulco Disappoints, but Chick Shack Redeems the Night
My recent visit to Acapulco was a prime example of style over substance, leaving me regretting the decision to dine there. Thankfully, the night ended on a high note when we salvaged the experience with a visit to Chick Shack, located just three blocks away, which delivered everything Acapulco couldn’t.
Here’s why Acapulco failed to impress:
Overpriced and Unsatisfying The menu at Acapulco promises a premium dining experience, but the reality is far from it. Portions were shockingly small, and the flavors were uninspired and bland. It felt like we were paying for the ambiance, not the food.
Service Chaos The service was disorganized and inattentive. Dishes arrived at completely different times, leaving some of us awkwardly waiting while others started eating. When the food finally came, the waitstaff made no effort to serve the dishes to the correct diners, leaving us to play musical plates.
Form Over Function While the food looked like it was crafted for Instagram likes, it lacked any real culinary appeal. It was style without substance.
Shoddy Tableware To top it off, the dishes were chipped, and the cutlery was bent out of shape—details that stood out starkly against the restaurant’s pretentious presentation.
Disappointed and still hungry, we decided to walk three blocks to Chick Shack afterward—and what a contrast that was!
At Chick Shack, our food arrived quickly and at the same time.
The portions were generous, the flavors bold and satisfying, and everything was served with care.
Despite being a fast-food spot, the overall quality and attention to detail far exceeded anything we experienced at Acapulco.
If you’re considering dining at Acapulco, I’d strongly recommend skipping the overpriced disappointment and heading straight to Chick Shack. Sometimes, the simplest places deliver the best...

The food itself was good (not outstanding, but satisfying) with nicely seasoned dishes. That said, the portion sizes felt quite small for the price.
The biggest downside, however, was the waiting time. We experienced unbelievably long gaps between dishes, to the point where we ended up canceling the last one altogether. Even paying the bill was slow, my husband had to go after them just to settle it.
Overall, it’s a pleasant place with tasty food and kind staff, but the service speed needs serious improvement before I’d consider returning. It was at best a very...
Read moreWe went today at 1.30, place was empty. The staff left us sitting at a table for 10 minutes without so much as asking if we wanted a drink or anything. They were busy having their own drinks / teas and chatting with each other. My partner went to use the toilet and when she got back, we were still being ignored, eventually we just left. They watched us walking out without saying a word. Very strange and...
