An update on 03 NOV 2023 Their "Original Supreme Pack" priced at Rs 1375/- is a sham. More like Chillie Chillie Pack.
Tastes terrible and bland at the same time. I noticed that the kitchen staff has changed. Root cause is found maybe there?
The rice was bland, inadequate in quantity. The Chillie chicken was horribly spicy although the chicken pieces themselves were okay. Hot butter cuttlefish was just fried cuttlefish with Chillie.
Too bad they have changed. They used to be so good (as below).
Situated in Dickmans Road and therefore there is no parking space. This is quite problematic and it makes one wonder why such a reputed restaurant would occupy a space along this road.
As they mention everywhere, Jasmine Song is a descendant of the famous Flower Drum Chinese restaurant that was popular for its tasty and unforgettable dishes.
That taste can be detected in their dishes now as well although not completely.
The food is by far better than most other popular Chinese restaurants and the authenticity of their cuisine is intact.
The rice is never dry, the meats are always tantalizing and their veggies are a great add on for the main dishes that you would order.
A few problems though. One is that the consistency of the taste could vary on some days and the level of spices (especially hot ones) used could be too high to enjoy the main components of the dish.
Also their delivery system could use some improvement as sometimes it might be available just because the delivery guy has gone out somewhere else on one of his own errands.
Sometimes the order is muddled up if some personal preference was mentioned (like packing the chilli paste separately).
When it comes to takeout or delivery this is a major disappointment. Why should the chilli paste be tucked in with the rice? The oil of the paste oozes underneath across almost half of the rice making that portion inedible. Other popular, higher than average restaurants pack the chilli paste separately by default but here you have to make a special request. I f you forget to do so then the meal is ruined.
Their food is generally delicious but prices are a bit too high for the quantity that you are being served. Makes you think that it just might not be worth the money spent.
Most of the staff are very friendly and helpful and the chefs venture out into the dining area which enables you to customize your order even further.
All in all good food at a bit too much of a price and quantities that will leave you...

This is the first time I have recieved such a call from any establishment in Sri Lanka for a review I have left. Very Impressive! Mr. Jeremy, because of your professionalism and your great attitude, you have won me back as a customer. Feedback is given for improvement, and you taking the time to call me proved to me you value your customers and their opinions. I honestly was pleasantly surprised by your call. I increased my rating simply because of your gesture of taking the time and effort to inquire. I will come by for a meal soon. Keep it up as it is very rare to find such service and appreciation for a guest's review.
Disappointed as there is no consistency in the quality/taste of food. Besides it took over 1.5 hours to deliver after saying it would take about 45 minutes. Honesty is the best policy. 10 to 15 minute delay is somewhat acceptable but for it to take more than twice the amount of time is unacceptable. First time we ordered from here was in September and the food was pretty good and delivery was on time. Second time was disappointing. The delivery charge was doubled this time, but I understand given the cost of living going up but it should be conveyed to the customer. Taste of the dishes was just average to slightly below average and the five spice calamari was nothing like I have ever had before for it to be called a five spice dish. And for a restaurant not to have any fish dish available for a Friday night was quite surprising. Probably will not order from here in the future simply because of the lack of consistency when it come food quality and taste and...
Read moreIf you want the worst customer experience in a restaurant this place has to top the table. If the food is not up to the standard, what do you do? For the money you pay, don’t complain or return it to the management or just eat the damn food? I don’t pay to eat horrible food for that matter coz we pay a decent amount of money for the food we buy.
This has been a place I use to go few times an month and when I went last, the food was beyond horrible and what do you do when that happens as a paying customer, you complain right? And as we just did last time the management has got hurt and when I wanted to order food today, the restaurant manager Jeremy said that he can’t serve us and the owners have informed him not to take our order coz we complained last time as the quality of food was down low.
I honestly don’t know who the owners of this place is but if this is the way you treat your regular customers, you’re bound to close shop very very soon, coz no one wants to be treated this way.
If you’re running a food business, please learn customer service first. Because no one wants to pay for horrible food and as paying customers, we have the right to complain and refuse what’s horrible...
