Oak Ray Flower Drum — Restaurant in Colombo

Ill be giving not more than 2 stars, quality and portion size have deteriorated e since the last time I visited here in 2017. The portion sizes are absolutely outrageous as most of it are chunks of onions and vegetables instead of meat I had selected, there were 7 to 9 tiny chicken pieces only in the dish i ordered, for a minute I thought I had ordered vegetable dish instead of chicken dish. Guys in the kitchen have concealed the dish to give the impression that there is a decent amount of meat available in the dish but actually they are chucks of onions. Taste wise its your average Sri Lanka Chinese food and no sign of MSG being used in the food which is plus for me to give 2 stars 🙂 (you will end up in thirst if so) but whatever so ever nothing complaint about the taste, its ok. I'd say peach valley, xilaton and #88 serves quite decent amount of quantity in their dishes for the same prices or probably less. Other thing to note; If you request for tissues , they are extremely stingy. You only get one tissue for each person. Salt and pepper bottles needs to be replaced with newer ones, or you will be having rust instead. Well hope you guys address these issues and correct them. Hope...

Today was our last day in Sri Lanka and was excited to have good food, so our driver brought us to this hotel! Never that I thought the concept of portions here mentioned on menu card would be different as that of what is actually served! We booked table for two and ordered Chicken and corn soup and sweet and sour chicken ! (We couldn’t even reach for main course or dessert.) The portion mentioned on menu card are small and large. Being only two people we ordered small portion. The server/waiter didn’t inform the quantity of the soup unless it arrived. My goodness!!!! The huge bowl full of soup! I I’ve added in photos. Not that tasty. The sweet and sour chicken was not appetising at all! The chicken was served in ketchup literally! The basic and classic sweet and sour chicken is totally dependent on the sauce you serve and not the ketchup!! The server/waiter should at least explain the menu first rather than rushing for bring the food within minutes! I don’t know if people here opt for such huge portions. I’ve been a regular customer at Flower Drum for the past 10 years, and what amazes me most is how they’ve maintained the same incredible taste we experienced on our very first visit. That kind of consistency is truly rare and admirable.

Customer service here is above expectations. The staff are friendly, attentive, and never hesitate to accommodate requests. Even after dining in, they happily provide takeaway facilities — even for soups, which many restaurants tend to avoid. That genuine hospitality stands out.

The prices are very reasonable and offer great value for the quality and portion sizes. The restaurant is always clean and well-maintained, making it a comfortable place to dine.

Parking is available for around 10–15 vehicles — not large, but usually sufficient. Whether you're a couple, a family, or meeting up with friends or colleagues, Flower Drum is a great spot to relax and enjoy a tasty meal.
