Raheema Hotel — Restaurant in Colombo

I visited Raheema Hotel and had parota, samosa, and strong tea. The food was good, and I appreciated that they made the tea the way I like it—strong (කහට) and with less sugar.

One thing to note is that when you buy parota, they don’t offer free dhal curry like some other places. You’ll need to buy any curry, like chicken or beef, separately. I wasn’t disappointed, but it’s something to be aware of.

A concern I have is about smoking. a lot of people smoke in front of the restaurant in public. As a non-smoker, I believe if a restaurant sells cigarettes and tea, they should provide a separate smoking area. Smoking in public is not allowed by law in Sri Lanka, and there is also a school nearby, which makes this issue even more serious.

A hidden gem located near Thurstan College. The food is simply outstanding, especially their Kerala paratha with kuruma – it was amazing! The flavors were perfectly balanced, and the paratha was cooked to perfection.

What sets Rahima Hotel apart is its affordability. You can easily have a satisfying breakfast for under 300 LKR, which is a steal. The staff are friendly and attentive, making your dining experience even more enjoyable.

The only drawback is the parking situation. While street parking is available, it's not always free and can be a bit of a hassle. However, the delicious food and reasonable prices more than make up for it.

One of the oldest restaurant in colombo , They have been there for more than 50 years .. it’s famous for its biriyani, it’s really good taste and the parata is highly recommended to try . Staffs are very supportive and we can feel the difference with the service quality with their experience. The uncle who served us was Mr.Sammoon who is working there for last 54 years , he said he joint there when he was at 16 years old and now he is 70 years , still working better than a young boy.
