SunsetBlu — Restaurant in Colombo

I went to sunset blu to watch the FIFA World cup 2022 (so this review is exclusively for that event). We wanted a place that has a 1. large screen 2. great atmosphere 3. good food and drinks. 4. Good view of the screen. Based on our requirements, the screen was massive, sounds were great, the atmosphere was electric, the match itself was an all time classic. Food was alright as well, few choices from the menu but its understandable due to the crowd. My only complaint of that event was the reservation no and table reservation issue. So people with 8 pax get the whole table whereas seats. They had tables with numbers and assigned them to respective groups. Issue was when we went to hilton bright and early, we got literally the worst table in the whole venue. It really felt like a kick in the guts and maybe this review would've sounded different too. Luckily they allowed us to change the table after negotiating with the people in charge. But they have designed the seating arrangement with the idea of a restaurant and not taking account the screen. This makes sense from their pov as its easier to bill, arrange and locate customers. They should consider first come first serve basis which obviously favors us and is a pain to manage for them but its the right way imo. Its only fair the people who came first deserve the table with a good view. Its definitely something for them to figure out as there were alot of arguments earlier on about this. Maybe prices differ based on the seats like in the cinemas with the ability to reserve a specific table, or simply remove those tables with a bad view. Anyway, Im grateful they helped us out and we had a great event. Hopefully hilton can host more special sports events...

Had an awful experience with one of the hostesses at Sunset blu where she at a number of times very rudely tried to chase us away from near an unoccupied table. We had already settled the bill and was standing next to an unoccupied table listening to the band for like 20 mins when the hostess rudely interrupted over 3 times saying that the table was reserved. We were standing adjacent to the table and made it clear that we are not staying for long and we just wanted to listen to the band. The entire vibe of the place and our mood shifted from happy to mad instantly because of the way we were treated by this hostess. Hilton should take more responsibility and provide proper training to their staff especially the ones at sunset blu to fix their attitudes and listen to customers without constantly trying to chase them away for standing next to an unoccupied table. This lady had shoulder length hair that was blonde and was one of the local hostesses. Absolutely disgusted with the way we were spoken to and made to feel unwelcome and uncomfortable while we were trying to unwind to some good music.

This is the second time something like this happened to us at Hilton (the first instance was during the Oktoberfest where mid-meal they made us move to a different table).
