Worst Restaurant Experience I’ve Ever Had
I rarely leave reviews, but my experience at this new taco place was so disappointing that I feel obligated to share.
We waited over an hour without receiving any food not even the guacamole we ordered. My wife got her drink after a long wait, but they completely forgot mine. After an hour and 30 minutes, I finally asked about our order, only to be told they couldn’t find it. No apology. No urgency. Just a blank response.
By that point, we were so frustrated that we just wanted to leave. I offered to pay for the one drink we received and walk out. I had absolutely no interest in waiting another 30 minutes for food that might never come.
The service was beyond unprofessional. I never even got to try the food, so I can’t comment on that but based on the service alone, I won’t be coming back.
Also, when a restaurant messes up this badly, the least they can do is offer a complimentary drink as a gesture. Instead, we were treated like an afterthought.
This was hands down the worst service I have ever experienced in any restaurant.
RESPOND
Hi Andreas
I appreciate you reaching out, but I want to be completely honest it’s disappointing to receive an offer of compensation only after posting a review. It clearly feels like an attempt to get me to remove my feedback rather than a genuine effort to make things right.
Why wasn’t anything done while we were there? No one offered to fix the situation, or even start preparing our food after we waited over 90 minutes. We weren’t the only ones either several guests around us were also waiting far too long.
I’m not writing reviews to get free food or compensation the damage was already done. What happened was unacceptable, and unfortunately, I’m not interested in any form of compensation at this point.
I hope this experience pushes you to improve the service for future guests because what we went through should never happen in any...
Read moreI have to say as a Mexican born living in Dallas, I was so impressed with the quality of Amano Tacos’ food. We know how good tacos can be and these were as equal as any restaurant in Mexico. Not even in Dallas I have been able to find good tacos served in a fine restaurant. We chose it because of its closeness to our hotel (walking distance) and the good reviews. I noticed someone already gave Amano a 1 star review. So unfair. I think people that feed us deserve more tolerance. Also, and first of all, this is a new restaurant, so give it a chance to make a few mistakes. The food takes a little bit longer than you expect? They are making it from scratch and you can’t deny it was very good, so if you are in a hurry then go to a fast food restaurant. Our drinks took a little bit longer too and we reminded the owner about them a couple of times but we noticed that was because they have only one bartender who was by the way amazing and funny to say the least. He visited our table several times and gave us some drinks to try. Just to finish with my review, we arrived without a reservation because I couldn’t find an English section in their website and I didn’t understand the tab options. I hope that can be added soon and although they were already booked for the evening, the owner managed to get us a table for seven and we had an...
Read moreAfter hearing so much buzz about Amano, a newly opened taco spot that’s already been praised by many, we were excited to try it out.
While the restaurant clearly has its fans, we didn’t feel particularly well taken care of. Other tables received detailed descriptions of their food and thoughtful service, while we were mostly just served with minimal interaction.
The pacing of the dishes was also off. I got one of my dishes, my partner received both of hers, and our daughter didn’t get any food at all until we were nearly done eating. She ended up eating from my partners plate. It wasn’t until quite some time later that someone asked if we wanted the rest of the food which felt obvious to us, especially since her meal hadn’t arrived. Oddly enough, our appetizer showed up last.
In total, we spent about 2.5 hours at the restaurant largely waiting while other guests who arrived after us were in and out well before we left.
While we really wanted to love Amano, and understand that many others have had great experiences, this visit just didn’t work for us. Unfortunately, it’s not a place we see ourselves...
