The place is old and needs updating. It is very big and has so much potential but it is very wasted space. The drinks are expensive and it takes a while before you get served. The owner of this place is against foreign people, he doesn't allow more than a certain amount of foreign music of ANY kind, Latino, African, Asian, Indian. I've been here many times and the rather keep playing Swedish music from the 60's rather then anything from the outside world. Foreign people get thrown out very easily for just dancing next to a girl while all the white people (who they seem to think are all Swedish) can basically harass you and they get to continue dancing. I have a lot more to say about this place but I think I have said enough. I think it's quite safe to say I won't be going there again. Och bara så ni vet så är jag svensk och...

Terrible staff/Stealth entrance fee? Went here last Saturday with my girlfriend. We arrive and queue behind a couple who were getting abuse from the doorman for some unknown reason. After being held in the queue for 5 minutes (it was half empty inside) the doorman asks my age. I tell him and get a comment about looking older than I actually am, we go in. When you go inside there's a queue for the cloakroom on the right and the bar on the left, since we were just going in for a quick drink we decide not to hang our jackets and walk towards the bar. We get cut off by another doorman inside who demands we go back, a second later I get a shove in the back by the first doorman. My girlfriend asks if we were supposed to go to the cloakroom. She gets told "The only place you're going,...

Having not gone for lunch at one of my usual spots when in Göteborg, I slumped into John Scott's for a spot of lunch. Although cla8ming to have a large selection of beers on tap and bottle, I found myself not too impressed with the selection, although it was ok. I had the fish and chips and I have to admit that it was one of the best I've had. Wonderfully simple with a fresh piece of fish in fresh crispy batter and a side of crispy chips. Though slightly more pricy than an average lunch, I found it filling and the service was excellent. Did not wait more than five or six minutes. This is a place I'd happily go to again, and...

The food was fine, but one of the burgers were a tad dry. Both were well done, and no option to choose rarity. The nachos were mediocre. You order via a QR-code, which works pretty well. We did have to wait quiet a while for our food, but drinks came fast. Probably due to the size of the place, which is quiet big. The locations is pretty awesome, and the prices are very reasonable. Servers were friendly, but there is a lot of noise when it is full. All-in-all a fine experience, and we could bring a stroller in on the terrace.

John Scott’s Backfickan in Gothenburg comes across as a bit of a dive bar with a mild fungal smell, as some others pointed out here. There’s an OK selection of beers on tap to choose from and the staff were pretty friendly during our visit which was one of the few pluses for us. The atmosphere could be better and pales in comparison compared to some of the other bars in downtown Gothenburg. The cleanliness issue is what would put us off from revisiting John Scott’s Backfickan in Gothenburg again.

Visited Sunday night 9th October for a quick beer and found this place very pleasant to have a quiet drink Bit strange that they close at 6pm on Sundays but I guess that's Sweden for you called in day after before getting train to Copenhagen and we were eating on the train so didn't eat here. The fish dish smelt absolutely gorgeous Place is run by a chap called Owen who is pictured and he couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Thank you 'Bob'
