I finally made it to Sweden to visit my Swedish heritage. It was during the Gothia Cup to see my son play soccer. My cousin drove from Stockholm to meet us a Gothenburg. Pivo was recommended to him from the Hotel he was staying at. It was nice because it was off the busy summer and Gothia Cup traffic. Very modern but in an historic area. The waitress was very accommodating, recommended drinks and a wine as well as food. It was a bit cool in July for us but they had heat lamps and blankets at every outdoor table, so we were quite comfortable. We were drawn to the restaurant because they served venison and wild boar as well as other traditional Swedish dishes. We had a charcuterie board as an appetizer we ate wild boar, venison salami, and Mooseheart for the first time. While we were there, we learned they were doing a photo shoot for a traditional Swedish Christmas dinner for their upcoming menu. My cousin inquired if we could perhaps taste the menu they were photographing so we could experience a traditional Swedish Christmas meal on our visit. The owner was quite gracious, and allowed us to taste it, and then later came to our table to provide more details. The food was so delicious I wish I was able to return in December for the holidays. My husband and l like variety of foods, but even our 15-year-old daughter loved all of it! There were not enough days in our visit to experience all the wonderful Swedish cuisine, but Pivo checked most of the boxes! Thank you for a wonderful traditional...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Pivo, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I walked through the door, I was transported to a rustic hunting lodge, complete with a hunting theme and warm, inviting interior.
But the true star of the show was the wild meat red deer file. It was cooked to perfection - tender and juicy, with bold, rich flavors that truly captured the essence of the wild. The accompanying sauces and sides were equally impressive, perfectly complementing the venison and elevating the dish to new heights.
The service level was also impeccable. The staff were friendly, positive, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, making the dining experience truly enjoyable.
If you're looking for an unforgettable meal in a unique, rustic setting, look no further than Pivo. The wild meat red deer file alone is worth the visit. It was one of the best meal I have had in...
Read moreWe had the pleasure of dining at Pivo - Passion för Vilt, a gem of a restaurant tucked away in the heart of the city. The name itself, translating to "Passion for Game," sets an exciting premise, and I’m thrilled to say the experience lived up to the promise. Upon entering, the rustic yet modern decor immediately set a cozy, welcoming ambiance. The menu is focusing on seasonal and locally sourced game meats. I started with the croquettes on wild boar, which were a revelation. These crispy delights were filled with tender, flavorful meat that melted in my mouth. For my main course, we chose the venison steak, and game burger with dirty fries which were exceptional. The service at Pivo stood out for its professionalism and warmth. The staff was eager to share their knowledge of the dishes, contributing to a more engaging dining experience. Highly recommended for a memorable...
