A must visit if you are in or visiting Stockholm.
The Paradox Museum Stockholm offers a mind-bending experience, challenging perceptions with optical illusions and interactive exhibits. Located near Hötorget, it's a destination for all ages. Visitors can capture unique photos and learn the science behind each paradox. The museum aims to create fun, engaging, and educational moments, leaving guests questioning reality.
How to get there ? If you are coming from outside of Stockholm, then book a train to Stockholm Central Station and then come out from Klarabergsgatan exit, go to your left until the roundabout and just before the "Five guys" at the corner take left and then at about 200 metres go down to metro station. It will be on your left.
Tickets & Visiting: Recommended to buy tickets online to get a discount as well. Opening times can be verified from the website. You can put your small bag or jacket in the lockers just behind the reception, and it's free :) . If you're traveling with toddlers and have a stroller, you can park it near reception or take it with you in the museum both are allowed.
What to expect? At the entrance you will be greeted with friendly staff at reception and yes their English proficiency is excellent :) free WiFi is available since sometime there are no cellular reception at someplaces. You will get a brief explanation on the layout of the museum and after that you can start your journey in the Paradox !
There is a QR code available with each paradox which explains what it is and how it works. A special treat for physics students.
Follow the "camera" mark on the floor to capture the best angle of the illusion.
Gifts: You can buy gifts and souvenirs at the exit, I felt it was a bit pricey but since they are unique so there's no harm in spending a little more :)
Notes : Food is not allowed but you can take water inside. It can take 60-90 minutes for a good visit and could take more if you really want to explore each paradox to its...

We visited the museum with our 3 year old toddler. The staff informed us that, the venue does not have a dedicated place or area to leave the barnvagn. The staff then, asked us to leave it next to the reception at our own risk.
Now here's the catch. We spent around 500 SEK for tickets for 2 adults. Compared to this, how much would losing a stroller cost?
Being reasonable adults, we asked ourselves. How can the staff expect any parent to enjoy this experience carrying the burden and stress of their stroller being stolen?
They then advised us to leave all our belongings in the lockers they provide and carry the stroller with us inside. To add to our nightmare, all the lockers were full and locked. After waiting for almost an 15 minutes, we decided to carry our jackets, belongings and the stroller with us inside the museum.
Now imagine having to drive a stroller through a crowded place. It was not just annoying to us, but also other participants in the museum. We were glad, that everyone around were very compassionate and considerate to us, which made it a little easier.
The only interesting event we as a couple were looking forward to inside, was the EXIT.
The only feedback or advice, I would like to share with the management responsible to run this business is, either restrict all parents with strollers from visiting your facility. Or at least provide them with a facility to lock their strollers into a metal hook somewhere near. Even, if you charge them 100 SEK extra to borrow the locks, they would happily do it over having a bitter experience like we did.
Overall, an extremely...
Read moreJust an underground playpark for kids! Could be a fun big kid play park but ruined by the amount of people and especially the kiddos. Heed the advice... Go during term time and week days so it's less busy.....
Too many kids ruined the experience. Each photo opportunity was either walked through or Interrupted by a child. Not really the child's fault but the parents who let them push through queues and lines of others waiting, standing in the way of exhibits, or using all the lockers for each child. I found this is just family's being rude and slack in discipline. Control your offspring or allow them to be struck by a member of the public! Your choice.
Most of the kids didn't really get the concept anyway and thought of it as more of a play park. Perhaps an adult only time slot on each weekend / every day would help.
Also going as a couple or just the two of you would mean some photos would need to be taken by staff who seemed to disappear when you saw a couple. Meaning giving your camera to another patron who inevitably took a poor photo. A stand for cameras in the right place where a timer could be set up would work better.
Other than that it's a small cramped museum which will give you a headache at the end.
Cannot say I hated it. It's very much worth a visit but either wait for them to put in place my actions or go in...
