We dine here occasionally, about once a month, especially when craving for Dim Sum, expecting consistency. Unfortunately, this visit was disappointing. Dim sum plates were not hot(they didn’t keep it hot at display station which I don’t know why), the gyoza filling was rubbery and tasteless, and the dim sum sauce (Jik Chow sour sauce) was poorly made—more like diluted sweet soy sauce and it’s wrong!. Deep-fried items, like shrimp gyoza, were undercooked and lacked crispiness, suggesting either low heat or rushed preparation. Sweet sesame balls is a joke, red bean paste filling couldn’t be found, was puny little in there. Felt cheated, is Pong trying to go cost reduction with food they serve ??
For main dishes, most were bland and uninspired, though I’ll give credit to the spicy beef salad and glass noodle salad for maintaining their usual quality. The deep-fried salmon with Korean sauce was inedible—fishy, chewy, and overly fatty. Hope it won’t make regulars. Even the Pad Thai, typically a reliable choice, was poorly executed with improperly cooked noodles and sauce. Didn’t taste much of Pad Thai.
Service was also subpar, with inattentive staff and slow refills for sauces and plates despite multiple requests. At 300 SEK per person, we expect better quality, consistency and service, especially from a well-known chain like Pong. After this experience, we’re considering going to other Asian buffet options, as this visit fell far below...
Read moreWe recently visited Pong Asiatic Restaurant in Uppsala, saturday evening, November 3, 2018. It was good we booked a table thru their webbsite because of a big crowd of visitors that evening. It was only a short queueing/waiting time & we got a table very near the Buffé area. The waitress who served us was very friendly, fast, attentive, helpful & very professional. There was another manly waiter going around taking care & clearing up the tables. After ordering our drinks, we were told we could start our Buffé dinner. We started with different Sushi with trimmings, then different warm & very delicious Dumplings or Dim Sum. Afterwards, we tried small amounts of different warm, very savory but not so spicy dishes. We really enjoyed the Asiatic dinner & we were there for almost 2 hours. Highly recommendable restaurant to enjoy a very good Asiatic Cuisine. Tuesday, February 12, 2019, 1:15 PM: We tried the Lunch Buffé at Pong's Restaurant, Uppsala recently. We were not impressed with the food served. No soup available. Limited type of Sushi. No Dumplings or Dim Sum. Some of the warm food served did not have any more solid meat left, only sauce!Very limited choice of drinks. One has to decided on which type of lunch & drinks one will have & pay at the Reception Desk. The lunch buffé here is below standard comparing to the Amazing Thai Restaurant...
Read moreWe recently visited this restaurant for hotpot as a family, including our 2-year-old child, and unfortunately, our experience was less than satisfactory.
Upon arrival, we were told that I had only reserved a table for two and should have included our child in the reservation. While this was our oversight, the staff managed to resolve it by providing us with a larger table, which we appreciated.
However, our experience took a downturn when it came time to pay. One of the staff members insisted that we needed to pay for two hotpots, claiming that we were all eating, which was not true. Her manner of addressing us was unprofessional. We had clearly communicated to the person who took our order that we required only one hotpot and that the other person would take the buffet. This was agreed upon and adjusted accordingly. When the first staff member realized the mistake, she apologized and corrected it, but the initial interaction left us feeling unwelcome.
Additionally, there was no high chair available for our child, and food items like dumplings were not refilled promptly. These issues detracted from our overall dining experience.
We were looking forward to a pleasant family dinner, but we left feeling disappointed and dissatisfied with...
