Never leave reviews like this but don’t bother coming here if you’re a person of colour. Absolutely racist establishment. Did not even acknowledge us when we walked in. Made us move tables to say that it was a 4 person table and for reservations even though the person just walked in after us and there was only two of them. I asked the couple too and they said they had no reservation. The lady at the till is completely racist. Moved the only two people of colour in the entire place. This is my first time in Basel and it’s my birthday. We came here because of the good reviews for food but I am absolutely furious about the way we have been treated. Served food to everyone who came before us but we had to remind the server about ours. Pictured at the till is the intolerant lady in question. And the first table with the two people sat on the “four person” table. I hope your management take serious action because you should not be working in hospitality. The location is great and the terrace outside makes it even better. However you do have to bring your own food outside once it's ready since staff don't come out for that. I honestly don't mind that but it's worth mentioning to anyone who may want to sit outside but can't or won't go up a flight of stairs to go get their order when the buzzer rings. I found the food pretty good but it was certainly missing a bit of attention to details. The bagel was a bit over-toasted so it was falling to pieces when you bite into it and I'm personally not very keen on a sweet dish containing peanut butter and plain yoghurt among its ingredients because they clash in taste and texture. Despite this I wouldn't discourage someone from trying La Manufacture as the ingredients seem good and staff are clearly trying to make things look and taste different. Disrespectful employees. We got to the place with my girlfriend. There were 2 available places to seat, one cute table in the corner or a little table with stools facing the window. Of course we asked to sit us to the table, but waitress refused to do that, saying that if 4 ppl will come there is more space at the table. We were not that happy, but agreed to sit on stools. After us in 6 minutes came 2 ceparate couples, of course one of them sat where we asked to sit in the first place. We were still okay with that, because anything can happen. BUT in next 20 minutes waitres didn't even look at us, she took orders from people who came later than us and completely ignored that we asked to come to us. What did we do to her I have no idea.
