What to say except from one of my favorite restaurants it went to the LAST on the list. They changed the kitchen as well as it seems the staff. We had reservation at 7, received our appetisers 45 minutes later. The main course (beef tartare which they changed completely to basically xhopped meet with salt and pepper and topped it with lemon and parmesan salad) and fish that was half raw. We waited for main dishes 1 hour and 15 minutes!!! Staff apologised that something got mixed up in the kitchen! We had to basically kept asking staff for updates and if we didnt even mentioned one hour later I think they would completely forgot as they never cane to check on us. Terrace was half empty. Table behind us heard us complaining and they also said their fish came raw and waited for 1 hr for main dish and that this has never been like this!! Also they raised their price for main dishes to 47 chf small portions and yet very basic ingredients. I am so absolutely shattered that one of my favorite places went down like this. I feel robbed for a dinner that I havent even enjoyed and yet they only took 2 drinks off the bill, mind you beef tartare I ate three spoons and salad. Never again and not recommending to anyone because so many better places alongside river with better offers and slightly...
Read moreThe restaurant’s main draw is clearly the location, with the terrace offering a wonderful setting to enjoy the evening on the Rhine. That invariably also draws in crowds, which alongside crammed tables gives the dining experience more of the feel of a fast food restaurant at the airport than that of a venue to really enjoy the food and surroundings. One can’t really fault the restaurant for this, but that’s how it pans out.
Service is much along the same lines. It is dependably efficient, but rushed and somewhat crude. Everyone is polite, but clearly focused on volume and speed.
All of the above would be somewhat OK if the food was more than average, which unfortunately it is not. The menu features simple dishes and there’s nothing wrong with that, but at this price point, one expects a bit more refinement in delivery. The coquellette, for example, could easily be mistaken for what you can get in the rotisserie section at Migros. Drinks were equally underwhelming, with the house version of the Spritz being too watered down and unbalanced in its sweetness profile.
Overall, it’s a really nice location catering to high throughput dining at somewhat...
Read moreWe were group of 70. We ordered the tavolata menu.
Positives the employees serving were trying their best and very polite.
the room is decent.
some vegetable entrees were good- Brussels sprouts etc.
Negatives
understaffed- 3 employees serving 70+ seated meal/drinks. Impossible
food the mains course was basic- we saw a chicken and salmon— probably suveed/steamed- very average.
the tavolata is a concept where they give plates to share on table among guests. The size of some plates was laughably small for to share between 4 people.
the good entrees beef tartar/some veggies were in short supply.
Try to book a 3 course meal, and agree prior on number employees...
