Schluggstube Antiquitätenbar — Restaurant in Basel

I stumbled across this place and admit that I was both drawn and skeptical of the self advertised claim of being the best bar in town.

I haven't been to enough to properly validate the claim, but out of the three I've been to, this place is the best.

A fantastic selection of liquor, local beer on tap, and the friendliest and open environment. The bar keep is very inviting and so personable. The place used to be a little shop but when that business stopped being profitable, his parents turned it into a bar. He inherited the place about 11 or 12 years ago and has kept up this wonderful place.

You don't have to believe me when I say it's the best bar in town.

We had a really bad experience here recently. 3 friends had 4 drinks each but I was charged for 3 extra drinks which never happened. Look mistakes can happen we all can understand that but the attitude of this girl was so so aggressive and defensive. Being over charged is one thing but when someone can't admit they made a mistake it's another thing entirely. There was only a handful of people on the bar at the time so for the bar person to loose track of the rounds is really bad. This is a nice bar it just needs...

Where to start with this place, the drinks are overpriced, the service is not very forthcoming at all. We ordered an Espresso Martini and there was too little coffee inside, we made this remark and only got excuses and no offer to remake the drink. (For CHF 17.50!)
