It’s disappointing when a place doesn’t live up to expectations, especially when you’ve been going to the original pizzeria in Naples since childhood.
This experience, unfortunately, fell short in several ways. The waiting time was unexpectedly long—30-40 minutes for just two pizzas on a weekday evening, despite the restaurant not being particularly busy.
When the pizzas finally arrived, they were only lukewarm, which made it clear that either timing in the kitchen was off or they had been sitting before being brought out.
For over 60 chf for two pizzas and two beers, one would definitely expect much more.
Edit post reply of the restaurant: we didn’t raise our concerns with you when paying because we weren’t asked how our experience was. During the meal, we expressed our dissatisfaction to the waitstaff about the long wait time (40 minutes for two pizzas), but it didn’t seem to make much difference.
We appreciate your explanation of the preparation process.
However, our pizzas arrived lukewarm, which suggests they may have sat on the counter for a few minutes before being served.

Purtroppo qui a Ginevra in comune c’è solo l’insegna.

I am very sorry to leave this review, I have always been a big fan of the Antica pizzeria da Michele where I went many times both in Bologna and London with great pleasure. Unfortunately here in Geneva the only thing that is in common is the name. The quality of the food is terrible. The pizza is not the Neapolitan one that you eat in any other "da Michele", and to my great initial disappointment I went back a second time with the idea of trying other alternative dishes to pizza. We ordered spaghettoni with clams that we returned because the clams had a terrible smell. The waitress tried to convince us to keep them by saying that the clams were fresh, but the smell was indefensible. We continued with octopus that was inedible, rubbery, drowned in a raw tomato sauce (imagine opening a bottle of sauce and pouring it as is) and with a mashed potato and peas that were clearly from a can. A friend of mine had a burrata, which to our great surprise arrived in a deep dish floating on a cold tomato soup (the same one used on the octopus). In short, a total disappointment but above all an immense sadness because I hoped that the antica pizzeria da Michele had finally arrived in Geneva. A fall in style for this franchise, and risky because in Geneva there are many Italians like me!! I hope that there will be checks by the management and an...
Read moreI had a very disappointing experience at Antica Pizzeria da Michele in Geneva. By accident, the waiter spilt a full glass of wine (which wasn’t even for our table) all over my mother’s pants. See the attached photo. The waiter himself tried to help, but had no clue (like us) on how to do so. Still, what surprised us was the lack of concern/acknowledgement from the restaurant afterwards.
A few minutes later, another waiter came over and offered my mother a glass of wine as an apology, which she kindly accepted, but it never arrived. When it came time to pay the bill, there was nothing—no mention of the incident or even the offered wine glass. Meanwhile, my mother's pants are still stained with wine.
I expected the restaurant to show more responsibility and professionalism in handling the situation.
Unfortunately, although the pizza was tasty, we have no plans to come back to Antica Pizzeria da...
