Our recent stay at CitizenM in Geneva was a fantastic experience, and the excellent service started even before we arrived. The staff was incredibly responsive to our emails, and the complimentary Geneva Transport Card they sent us made getting to the hotel from the airport via public transport a breeze. Iris even kindly downloaded and attached this to an email when I initially reported not receiving it automatically (which I also did eventually and in time for our landing). Fernanda also kindly responded to our emails.
Upon arrival, the staff continued to be friendly and incredibly helpful. They were more than happy to store our luggage for us on day one and even gave us some great suggestions for local cafes. It was that kind of attentiveness that made us feel so welcome.
The room itself, while compact, was designed with a smart use of space. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and the room was quiet, which made for a great night's sleep. We loved the iPad controller, a brilliant feature for managing everything from the blinds and lighting to the climate and TV. It even had useful information about local cafes and restaurants. My only suggestion would be to add a more detailed tourist guide on the iPad for exploring the city.
The bathroom setup was a bit unique. The shower had great water pressure and a very user-friendly controller, which was a plus. However, the mirror and basin are located outside of the main bathroom area. This can be a little tricky if you're traveling with a partner, as the main lights are needed to see properly, and the vanity mirror light is too dim to use on its own. It's something to be aware of if one person wants to sleep in while the other is getting ready. This is the reason I’ve rated the room as average - would have given 3.5 stars if I could.
Although we didn't eat at the restaurant, we really appreciated the public areas. The free water tap was fantastic, and the water was always cool and refreshing at the end of a long day. We also saw some supervisors checking on the cleaning of the reception area, which showed us that the hotel takes its quality and cleanliness standards very seriously.
The location is a major highlight. It's incredibly convenient, with a Coop grocery store nearby for any last-minute needs. Geneva train station is nearby, within 15 minutes or so whether you choose to walk or take the bus. Overall, CitizenM offers a great, modern hotel experience in a very convenient location. The combination of helpful staff and high-tech features makes it a solid choice for a...
Read moreI recently had a disappointing experience at Citizen M Geneva, which I feel compelled to share. My colleagues and I arrived at the hotel on Sunday, March 26, at 12 noon, only to be informed that our rooms were not ready. While we understood that we were early, we were assured that our rooms would be available by the official check-in time of 2 pm.
We returned after lunch, only to discover that not only were our rooms still unavailable, but other guests who arrived later were able to check in before us. The staff member who attended to us, Katalina, attributed the delay to late check-out guests and failed to take personal responsibility for the situation. Furthermore, she misled us by claiming that the official check-in time was actually 2:30 pm.
The entire process of checking in, retrieving our luggage, and finally gaining access to our rooms took an unnecessary and frustrating hour. As a returning guest, I am deeply disappointed by the lack of organization and poor customer service displayed during this visit. I will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates on my experience. I sincerely hope that the management at Citizen M Geneva will address these issues and ensure that future guests do not face similar inconveniences.
Day 2 (Update): The hotel offered some free drinks, snacks and bottled water as an apology, and finally acknowledged their mistake - after I posted this review. I am writing this at 11.19pm, the power socket did not work and I couldn’t charge my phone, apparently there was a power trip. I called their ambassador and they promised to come up in 5 mins. 15 minutes passed and no one has come. I am sleepy and tired after a long day and just want to go to bed. I had to call the second time to a disgruntled “ambassador” who told me in an irritated voice, “As I said, my colleague is coming up right this moment. We are busy with guests right now.” I’ll post more updates on Day 3.
Day 3 (Update): I ordered a van the night before at 11pm. This morning when I arrived at the front desk, I was told the van had not been ordered. This is the third time the hotel has dropped the ball. Completely unreliable especially if you are staying here for business purposes. I am starting to think that the hotel does not welcome me as guest.
P.s. To be absolutely fair, the hotel is in great condition, great spacious rooms with a huge bed despite how compact it is, and very nice communal dining areas. It’s also super trendy and designer-like. Just unfortunate that I am experiencing all these inconveniences...
Read moreWhat a fantastic hotel CitizenM Geneva is. I totally lucked out! Having recently moved to Geneva for work i ended up staying at CitizenM much longer than i had anticipated. In the heart of the city is this fabulous place where i enjoyed great comfort. Starting from the warm welcome to all the highly efficient aspects of checking in and getting all the information one needs to the great room with the super wonderful bed, power shower and high tech controls. The hotel has great covid19 protocols in place and one sees them rigourously maintaining safety and hygiene. Beyond that the bar and food service in the living room is just lovely. These guys are rocking on that front, and sure know how to spin some fab cocktails! Speaking of the folks that make up the CitizenM team here..im floored by their warmth, friendliness, the proactive manner in which they seek to help guests with whatever comes up; and their great professionalism. I dont think its possible to find another place like this in the city, and for me, the comfort of the hotel and its superb team helped create a 'soft landing' in a new city. I have stayed in countless 5 and 4 star hotels around the world, and CitizenM Geneva is going to always be one of those outstanding places that will always stand out for me as a simply high quality experience every which way one looks at it. My hats off to the valuable group of people who make up the team here. I have already recommended the hotel to my colleagues and friends and thought i'd continue my gushing more broadly 😊Hope you all get to experience this in...
