Cafe Du Rond Point, what an incredible experiance. I had been in Geneva for a week and finally made it to this fantastic location.
From the second I walked in the door, I was greeted with a smile and hello. The aroma of the food was most inviting. We were seated, and when they realized that we were Americans, they gave us the most lovely waitress who happened to be from Boston, MA. That alone was enough to make me feel welcome.
The restuarant was packed and yet our server was on top of us at all times. She was able to manage all the tables she had and ours on top of it. I asked several questions about the wine and beer options and she gave me detailed and distinct descriptions. Since her recommendation for the wine was so on point, I asked for her recommendation of food. Again she hit it out of the park! We had the most amazing pot of deliciousness. It was baked and steamed sauerkraut with sausage, bacon, pork tail, and potatoes. I ate like it was going to be my last meal! It was one of the best dishes I have ever had. I only wish I would have found this place on day one.
The view is impeccable, its almost all windows so you can see all of the beauty geneva has to offer.
If you want to get a true Genevan experiance with genuine happy locals and great service. Well you must stop at Cafe Du Rond Point. The food with its magnificent flavors will knock you off your feet. Read moreI went here with a friend. According to him it is a hotspot for intellectuals in Geneva. However, fi that was true there would be more vegetarian options on the menu. There was one (1!) vegetarian item, a risotto. So I ordered this dish. Both dishes came after a lengthy wait. The risotto had a piece of ham in it and my friend had a dish with ham, so I just wanted to verify that I had read the menu correct and that there is no ham in the risotto apart from that one piece. I presume the waitress misunderstood me and swiftly removed my plate (and fork), promising a new one. So I had to wait another 15minutes. The risotto was not even worth the wait. It is really nothing special and lacked taste overall. Not even the consistency was good; too liquid. When the second risotto arrived, the waitress was gone before I could ask her for another fork, which she took with her with the other plate. She wasn't very attentive overall. Conclusion: I will not go there again. The kitchen seems chaotic, the menu is unsuitable for vegetarians and the service isn't...
Read moreHad a decent time here at Café du Rond Point. Didnt manage to grab any bites so won't be able to comment on that at this time, but shared a few gin/tonics and it was all tip top. Prices are very reasonable, especially this downtown in Geneva. Service was a little hard to get a hold of, but not due to lack of trying. There simply weren't enough servers at the time to cater to everybody. Would not mind coming back to give their other menu...
