Café Vaudois is quintessentially Genevian (Is there such a word? Lol). From the cozy old-school French-Swiss ambience to the classic menu, it captures the spirit of traditional Geneva dining perfectly. The vibe is warm and inviting, like stepping into a well-preserved slice of local culture.

I would’ve loved to give it a full 5 stars, but my main goal was to try their cheese fondue (not pictured), and honestly, while it was good, it just didn’t blow me away. I was expecting something a bit more memorable given the reputation, but it felt a bit underwhelming.

That said, everything else was spot-on. The escargot was absolutely delicious, rich and garlicky in the best way. Their house wine was a pleasant surprise: crisp, flavorful, and quite reasonably priced by Swiss standards. And did I mention the amazing Swiss meringue with buttercream?

All in all, a great spot for an authentic Geneva experience, even if the fondue wasn’t the star of the show. Definitely...

Service was excellent, very nice atmosphere. Our server spoke both English and French. She was great and super nice. The rosti and veal sausage were delicious. Our kids love the veal sausage. The escargot were okay, cooked with alcohol which had a really strong bitter taste. I do not recommend it unless you like the alcohol taste. We are used to buttery escargot. We also ordered the omelette which was buttery and delicious. The cheese fondue had an alcohol bitter taste to it. I do not recommend it if you had cheese fondue in america, it’s not similar. With all that, I think it’s just preferences. Maybe you can specialize your dishes...

(0/5 if I could…) Café Vaudois in Geneva is a disgrace. The manager screamed at us out of nowhere, threatened to call the police, and treated us with open hostility. Her behavior was not only unprofessional but clearly racist, no one should have to experience such treatment simply for existing.

The food was disgusting (stale, dirty, and unsafe), the place unhygienic, and the atmosphere miserable. I especially warn people of color and anyone from marginalized backgrounds: do not set foot here. This is the worst dining experience I’ve ever had, and it was soaked in both hate...

If you’re interested in touristy places with cliché decor and tourist trap menus, there are other places to try. But if you’re looking for something truly local, with a relaxed, but genuine environment, great food and even better service, this is the place to come. The server/bartender went the extra mile to help us, instruct us how to eat and what to order and she made the experience feel top-notch. The food was some of the best we’ve had. And you can try fondue, rosti, sausages and more for half the price of the other places. You will feel good eating here.
