Positioned amidst a backdrop of urban construction and bustling foot traffic, this restaurant strives to create a distinct dining experience, despite the chaotic surroundings. The outdoor seating, while initially off-putting due to its proximity to a busy, reconstruction-ridden street, is somewhat salvaged by the thoughtful installation of glass barriers. These do provide a degree of separation, although the atmosphere still hints at the ongoing commotion outside.
The culinary offerings were a mixed bag. The fries, while acceptable, lacked distinction. They were overly soft and under-salted, failing to leave a memorable impression. The meat, commendable in quality, arrived at our table undercooked—raw with a purple-red hue. This necessitated an additional wait for proper cooking, so be advised of that in advance. The much talked-about secret sauce was decent, complementing the beef adequately, though it didn’t quite live up to its hype. It was enjoyable, but not extraordinary enough to be a compelling reason for a return visit.
Service, on the other hand, was commendable given the high volume of patrons. The staff were pleasant and attentive, managing to meet our needs with a warm demeanor. The food arrived at a reasonable pace, though considering the limited menu, a quicker delivery would have been preferable.
In conclusion, while there were some notable aspects, the overall experience was somewhat marred by the environment and the inconsistencies in food preparation. The restaurant shows promise, particularly in its quality of meat and service, but there is room for improvement in...
Read moreThe food was amazing. Just necessary to understand, that the restaurant offers just entrecôte as the main dish only. I saw people leaving, as they didn't follow the policy.
The French food and style is an excellent experience even in Geneva, as the influence on the Swiss and European cuisine makes it unique.
I had a bottle of Swiss white wine Petite Arvine produced in the canton of Valais and as a desert chocolate fondant. The wine was very nice, the desert delicious (close to sticky toffee pudding, if I could compare it).
The service could be a bit better. When I came into the restaurant, a gentleman was serving someone, but tried to speak to me too. I wasn't so much in hurry, so no need to interrupt his communication with other guests. Actually, another gentleman asked me, if the first one wasn't free to speak to me. I politely asked the other gentlemen, if he spoke English, just not to be automatically starting in English. I got the feeling, that he was a bit cheeky, that I don't speak French. Well, I tried to communicate the best, English is not my first language either, but my French is just some basic words, so it was easier to speak English.
I booked a table at 6pm, as the restaurant might have been busier later on Saturday (which it was). I recommend this to those, who prefer enjoy less busy time, as it started to be full around 7pm. The tables are quite close to each other, so you should be aware of this.
The food and wine were great, so I generally recommend this restaurant. The other ones are just my subjective...
Read moreI wanted to take a moment to share my recent experience at Café de Paris, as I was quite disappointed by the service I received.
My previous visit was a pleasant one — the staff was friendly, and the steak was excellent, so I was looking forward to another enjoyable meal. However, when I arrived this time, I was surprised to find the restaurant almost empty, with only two tables occupied. Despite the available seating, I was assigned to a narrow table with limited space due to a column in the middle. I politely requested to change tables, but the server's response was far from welcoming.
The staff member addressed me in a tone that was not only passive-aggressive but also condescending, making me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. She seemed to take issue with my request and pressured me to make quick decisions about my order, particularly about how I wanted my steak cooked, in a manner that felt unnecessarily hostile.
As a result, I chose to leave the restaurant without ordering anything. It's disheartening to experience such a negative atmosphere in a place that I had previously enjoyed, and I certainly don’t want to spend my time in a place where the ambiance feels discriminatory or rude.
I wanted to bring this to your attention, as I believe customer service should always reflect a welcoming and respectful environment. Based on this experience, I won’t be returning in the future.
