We recently ordered from Indian Bites, hoping for a comforting Indian meal, but unfortunately, our experience fell far short of expectations.
To start on a fair note: the delivery was delayed, but we’re not holding that entirely against the restaurant. These things happen, and to their credit, the staff was friendly and responsive when we called to check in—they promptly provided an update on our order status. Sadly, that’s where the positives end.
The food, quite frankly, was a major disappointment, especially considering Geneva’s already high prices. For what we paid, the quality was shockingly poor.
We ordered the Chicken Lababdar, Daal Makhani, and Garlic Naan. Here’s a breakdown:
Chicken Lababdar: This dish was unexpectedly sweet—which is completely off from its traditional flavor profile. Worse, the chicken itself was dry and stringy, making it genuinely unpleasant to chew despite being served in what should have been a rich, creamy sauce.
Daal Makhani: An absolute travesty. To be clear: this was not Daal Makhani. It arrived orange in color—something we’ve never encountered anywhere in South Asia—and bore no resemblance to the creamy, slow-cooked dish it’s supposed to be. The dal appeared to have been cooked separately and hastily mixed into a generic, overly spicy sauce, completely lacking in depth or seasoning. We had to stop eating after a few spoonfuls—it was that off-putting.
We base this review solely on the dishes we ordered and our online ordering experience. That said, the flaws were fundamental, not circumstantial—we don’t believe eating this in-house would have improved things. These aren’t minor taste issues; they reflect a serious lack of care in preparation and a misunderstanding of the dishes themselves.
We won’t be ordering again. We hope Indian Bites takes this feedback seriously and puts more thought into delivering food that does justice to...
Read moreFirstly, I shall mention the food; the paneer tikka masala was rubbery, undercooked, and lacking in spices, although the naans were freshly prepared and made up for it. The drinks portion was satisfactory.
The ambience was ordinary; there isn't much to comment on. Three stars.
The service, however, was absolutely abysmal. I should clarify that my cohort consisted of three teenagers, myself included; as we sat down and ordered our food, the waiter noticed that only one of us was eating. He rapidly ushered us to another table, stating that they required a table for four, despite possessing half a dozen more that were just as viable seating options. Furthermore, as we attempted to place the wine glasses elsewhere, "Mr. Puskin" proceeded to provide a five-minute lecture upon our "careless conduct", where we purportedly dirtied the wine glasses with our touch, although we grasped the stemware by the STEMS, a fact that he refused to acknowledge. Furthermore, Mr. Puskin proceeded to berate us on the apparent "mistake" of picking a table for four instead of a table for one. I believe he mistook hospitality for arrogance.
This conduct is extremely unprofessional. Rather than handling our actions in a calm and assured manner, Mr. Puskin chose to elevate this into an act of aggression. Clearly, he lacks experience in handling customers.
I do not write this review to dissuade potential clients, but rather to educate our server upon the matter of ethics. It is evident that he enjoys transfiguring even mildly critical reviews into shouting matches, as evidenced by the extremely argumentative replies.
Again, Mr. Puskin, I hope that you will reflect on your conduct and perhaps accept that you made a mistake in treating us in this manner. I bear you...
