Zhong Tong — Restaurant in Geneva

Very terrible; I was there with my friend regrettably. A guy took our order and delivered to the table. Whilst we were eating and discussing; a woman with short hair(seems like their manager), wearing a frowny face moved towards us poured our drinks without saying a word to us and left, after about two minutes; she gravitated towards our table to ask "Are you done" ? While clearly seeing us eating. We couldn't pretend to be comfortable; so I called them to pack the remaining food as takeaway. The lady brought the takeaway plastic and started packing the left over right in front of us, on the same table we were eating. This service and treatment is beyond poor and inexcusable. Two person for two rather simple and classic dishes: rice with char Siu, mapo tofu. If you are expecting authentic Chinese cuisine, zhong tong might not be the one for you.

None of the dishes were authentic. And we were both quite sick after the food.

It was expensive as the food was not delicious at all and the cooking and ingredients technically were wrong. You can tell the recipe was definitely not Chinese authentic just by the skills and ingredients. Perhaps it’s not authentic because the restaurant would like to adapt European expectations of Asian food. And yes, they have Thai and Vietnamese food on the menu too.

I do love the vibe and the staff in the restaurant. They did pay attention to detail.

This place has been my favourite restaurant since my assignment in Geneve in 2007 - 2011. I know the owner well because she is very friendly indeed. My favorite menu is Chinese noodle soup with roasted duck on the side! Sometimes I eat the rice too. Other menus you can try is the caramelised beef and Viet Namese Pho, Chinese Noodle soup a la Maison, as well as vegetable sautéed, spring rolls, veggie dumplings and more. They give you fresh fruit for free later after you meal as well. I always go for hot green tea for my drink. They sometimes give you free shrimp crackers as well for the appetisers.

The price is very reasonable, around CHF 18 - 25 per plate and starting from CHF 5 for appetisers. the service is fast and friendly. The staff speaks English as well, which is very helpful in...
