California — Restaurant in Lucerne

We walked into an empty restaurant/bar and greeted with a friendly smile. That should have tipped us off but we were hungry and sat down. Ordered the ham and pineapple pizza for the two of us and told the waitress we were going to share it. She came back a few minutes later and said there is a 2 chf charge for sharing. That didn’t bode well with us. I ate a couple of slices and decided to take the rest back so I asked for a box. She came back with a small piece of foil that you couldn’t wrap around a hot dog bun. We were out in the evening trying to find somewhere to eat with our 3yo & 10mo. This was the only place that was kid friendly and had chicken nuggets! My husband said they had some of the best French fries he's ever had. They also had great drinks and delicious ice cream! No high chairs, but the staff was accommodating and made room for us to pull our buggy up to the table. English speakers available. Super cute American-type diner with delicious Swiss ice cream! Picture the scene.... You're a family of four wondering around Lucerne in Switzerland for the first time. You've consulted the menus of a dozen different restaurants and realised that kids menus are few and far between and £30 for an average meal is pretty much standard. Step forward the mirage that is restaurant California. Probably the only place in town that offers tasty food at prices that won't give you a heart attack. The staff are also flipping fantastic too.......
