Cozy atmosphere and inviting décor. The dishes were beautifully presented, and the extensive menu and solid wine list were definite highlights. However, the restaurant still has room for improvement.
Service was quite slow, and the young waiter seemed disengaged and undertrained. I struggled to get his attention multiple times, even as he walked by without checking his surroundings. At one point, he stood right next to me with his back turned, chatting with another customer while I tried to wave him down—unsuccessfully. There were also some mishaps: he dropped knives on the floor four times while carrying dishes to other tables or kitchen. Eventually, I had to flag down another server, who seemed more experienced and attentive, though I still had to wave a few times to get service and even bartender saw me waving but did not make a single move to try to get help while he was just standing there. Other waiters wad just passing by without even a glance. Overall, it was a stark contrast to the impeccable service I experienced at Safran restaurant earlier the same day, despite them having more guests to serve.
As for the food, I ordered the beef fillet medium-well—it came rare. I asked for it to be cooked a bit more, but it returned medium at best. I ate around the edges, as the center was still red, undercooked. Meat was under-seasoned. Even with morel sauce, it lacked a touch of salt and spice to bring out the flavors. On the upside, the homemade chocolate mille was excellent—every bite was a delight. At the end, it was a disappointing experience despite the beatuful dishes as after a while when you sit there with empty plate for a while after each dish and feeling ignored, it just a bitter taste for how the day ended for what was otherwise a great day at Montreaux. Something that can be fixed with more employee training, and the stuff has to learn how to work as a team, otherwise they just undermining chefs work by poor service.
Overall, a good restaurant with great potential. With improvements in service and consistency, it...

Read moreThis restaurant was exactly what we were looking for to end our time in Switzerland on a high note. I highly recommend booking a table in advance to avoid disappointment, as it was busy when we visited.
The dining room was quite warm, with fans running to try to cool the space. I’m not sure if that’s a permanent feature or if they were having temporary AC issues. Our order was taken about 10 minutes after we arrived. We started with the focaccia and both chose steak and frites for our main.
The focaccia wasn’t quite to my taste, a little burnt and drier than I’m used to, as I prefer it softer. However, the steak and frites were delicious, especially as I could cook the steak to my liking on the hot stone provided. The fries arrived cold, but I simply used the stone to warm them up.
Considering Swiss prices, the cost was reasonable, and we left feeling satisfied. If you’re in the area, it’s worth a visit especially if you enjoy the interactive hot-stone...
