Wintialp - Fondue und Raclette — Restaurant in Winterthur

We visited this restaurant hoping to enjoy a nice evening in what seemed to be a lovely and welcoming setting. Unfortunately, our experience was completely overshadowed by the behavior of our server, Jeffrey.

From the start, he was extremely unpleasant—interrupting us mid-sentence, walking away without listening to our choices, and openly laughing with his colleagues in a corner of the restaurant while looking at us, seemingly mocking our dissatisfied expressions. His attitude was condescending and dismissive, making us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable.

We are not difficult customers; we genuinely enjoy good food and wine, and we were looking forward to a relaxing evening. Instead, we ended up rushing through our fondue and wine and even chose to finish the bottle outside the restaurant just to escape the negativity.

To be fair, the fondue was delicious, and the restaurant itself is located in a beautiful and cozy setting. It’s a shame that the service didn’t match the ambiance. Perhaps we would have had a better experience with a different server, but Jeffrey's behavior left us deeply...

We wanted to try Swiss fondue in Switzerland. We'd tried it only once before in Asia, probably not the best start.

Service and atmosphere were fantastic, worth visiting just for the warmth of the reception and the welcome Schnapps

I'm guessing the fondue was great, but I'm no expert. Tasty for the first half but I felt heavier and heavier the more bread and cheese we consumed.

The salads could be better.

Unser Besuch im Fondue Chalet Wintialp war ein ganz besonderes Erlebnis, nicht nur wegen des hervorragenden Essens, sondern auch dank des außergewöhnlichen Services. Schon beim Empfang hat uns ein freundlicher Herr herzlich begrüßt, obwohl wir spontan und ohne Reservierung kamen. Leider war zunächst kein Tisch frei, aber als wir schon draußen an der Straße standen, lief er uns nach, um uns mitzuteilen, dass doch ein Platz frei geworden ist. Eine solche Aufmerksamkeit ist selten und hat uns sehr beeindruckt.

Ein großes Lob möchten wir auch Mia aussprechen, die uns während des gesamten Abends bedient hat. Ihre Freundlichkeit und Aufmerksamkeit haben den Abend noch schöner gemacht. Sie hat sichergestellt, dass es uns an nichts fehlte und war stets mit einem Lächeln für uns da.

Das Highlight des Abends war natürlich das Fondue – unglaublich lecker, mit einer perfekten Balance aus Geschmack und Konsistenz. Man merkt, dass hier großer Wert auf Qualität gelegt wird. Das gemütliche Ambiente des Chalets rundet das Erlebnis perfekt ab.
