Anjappar Zurich — Restaurant in Zurich

The food is fine but the establishment consistently lacks basic quality in their service, staff training and quality standards. I’ve been here numerous times purely cause I crave the South Indian food, but every single time I’m appalled at the callous nature of the service standards. It’s simply seems because the owners / managers don’t seem to know how to run a restaurant and don’t train the staff • waiting for someone to attend even though it’s mostly empty • wrong meal served on multiple times. Why can’t they just write down or note the order more properly? Sometimes they note on an iPad sometimes not but invariably the mess up • And so on

I’ve frequented all Indian restaurants here many times but this one (same management as prior Kailash Parbat in same location) consistent rates low on service quality, even if the staff changes over time.

As of writing this, they have 1-2 truly passionate and hard working staff (couple of women who seem to at least take some sense of ownership, customer interaction.. but the guys here look ever confused, disinterested and highly incapable).. the overall the quality of the processes, service training etc is very poor.

Can’t blame the staff if the hiring, training is poor every time there’s old or new staff or even if restaurant name changes. This usually reflects the owners/ management own lack of quality obsession.

I hope they improve asap so we can enjoy the food & the experience, both, though otherwise this will also die down like the prior...

We went on a Saturday late afternoon before a show. Slow and really bad service. Staff is untrained and unmotivated. We were sat in the backroom even though there were free tables in the front room. My back was next to the fridge and got really cold. Menue cards were dirty, my partner cut his hand on a glass splinter on the bench. There are no cards for the drinks (yet?), a glass of wine costs CHF5.50 (and it is cheap wine!). BUT - the food was very good (Chicken Biriyani and the Chicken Tikka Masala), the Biriyani was indeed very good, spicy and full of flavours. The Tikka Masala and the Chapati was served in plastic bowls, which is a shame - it makes it look cheap.
