Bar Nocciolina — Restaurant in Zurich

I visited this café with three colleagues on a cold evening, hoping for nothing more than a warm cup of coffee and a slice of cake. Unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had in Zurich.

When we asked the cashier — a young woman with many tattoos — how much a slice of cake cost, she replied indignantly, “6.50 CHF.” I politely thanked her and, after checking with my friends, asked if we could sit down. Her cold response was: “Yes, if you really want.”

Shortly after, what seemed to be the owner came over. She told him what we had asked, and he commented sarcastically, “Now I’ve heard everything, what a shame.” This man — bald, heavily tattooed, and loudly boasting about Napoli winning the championship — spent the evening harassing female guests and shouting at the men. Luckily, he didn’t approach our table, though he made it clear he considered us “beggars.”

As for the food, both the coffee and the cake tasted odd and unpleasant. Worse still, the next day we all felt unwell, likely due to the cream in the cake.

The constant stares and mocking from the staff made us leave quickly. For context: we are four polite, professional people who came to Zurich for an international congress. Never before in this beautiful city have we been treated so disrespectfully.

I’m sorry to say it, but I cannot recommend this...

Unentschuldbarer rassistischer Kommentar des Besitzers.

Eigentlich eine tolle Bar mit schönem Ambiente und feinem Kaffee und Aperol Spritz. Als wir am 15.04.2023 für einen Apero da waren und an der Bar bezahlen wollten, schaute der Besitzer gerade das Spiel Napoli vs. Verona. Wir unterhielten uns ein wenig über Fussball und über eine rote Karte gegen einen dunkelhäutigen Spieler (wobei die Hautfarbe des Spielers meiner Meinung nach keine Rolle spielen sollte) im vorhergegangenen Spiel von Napoli gegen Milan. Doch der Barbesitzer sagte zu mir, mit einer erschütternden Selbstverständlichkeit, dass Menschen dieser Hautfarbe einfach alle Spatzenhirne haben und es ihn deshalb nicht überrasche, dass dieser Spieler einen Platzverweis erhalten hat. Für mich ein unentschuldbarer Kommentar und total unangemessen.

Leider war ich in dem Moment so perplex, dass ich nicht zu einer Antwort fähig war. Deshalb schreibe ich jetzt...
